Senior Systems Engineer (SysAdmin/IT Software Support)
Role As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will support the Development Platform by administering critical systems, infrastructure, and applications. Your responsibilities will include providing automated and secure access to key developer systems and services and delivering solutions for engineers that reduce their cognitive load and enhance their developer experience. You will design and implement secure and cost-efficient cloud infrastructure solutions and enable AI capabilities that achieve successful business outcomes for Seequent. Duties and responsibilities Systems Knowledge and Expertise Administer critical development tools like JIRA, GitHub, and JFrog Artifactory. Automate solutions to grant required system access to various users according to established permission structures. Respond quickly and reliably to requests in developer support channels, balancing priorities appropriately Manage primary cloud infrastructure services like virtual machines, virtual networks, storage, and key vaults. Manage user groups, infrastructure, and portfolios in the cloud. Proficiently use scripting languages like PowerShell and/or Python. Administer DNS, Web Application Firewalls, and SSL Certificates. Exhibit deep expertise in multiple areas of products and services that the Systems Engineering team provides to internal customers such as Development and Production Infrastructure Engineering. Pave the way for AI adoption in systems and workflows by making decisions that privilege security and efficiency. Pick up and see to completion any critical team project related to deploying, patching, or migrating key systems and services. Advise on and help implement best infrastructure/service automation, observability, and security practices across teams. Extend and maintain documentation on critical systems and processes. User Engagement and Teamwork Work with cross-functional stakeholders to understand requirements and gather feedback on products/services; identify pain points and clarify ambiguity in their ideas. Work closely with Development Platform Engineers to design solutions for on-prem and cloud infrastructure. Design and implement automated solutions for onboarding, offboarding, and permissions management. Promote a culture of providing quality and timely service for engineering teams. Work closely with AppSec in selecting tools and AI capabilities. Participate in or lead technical discussions across multiple teams. Support the Lead in the advancement of team goals. Help organize and lead team projects through trackable epics and tickets. Technical Leadership Mentor and coach junior members of the team, guiding them through technical challenges with compassion and patience. Advise engineering on best practices and approaches to solving infrastructure and systems related problems. Provide technical leadership that helps guide the team when making key decisions on cloud tooling. Cultivate a “shift-left” security approach both within your work and across the team. Develop expertise in multiple areas of services that the team provides to internal customers like Development pods. Promote a culture of automation over manual solutions. Participate in technical interviews during recruitment. Project Management Define, document and execute small projects or sub-projects. Work independently or with a small team, actively participating in all project phases. Apply appropriate project management methods and tools. Identify, assess, and manage risks effectively. Prepare realistic project plans (including scope, schedule, quality, risk, and communication plans), ensuring stakeholder involvement and alignment with organisational governance standards. Track activities against the project schedule, managing stakeholder involvement as appropriate. Monitor costs, times, quality, and resources and act when these deviate from acceptable standards Qualifications The following technical qualifications, experience, and skills set are required for this role: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent. 7+ years working in roles like SysAdmin and/or IT Software Support. Experience with the following tools and systems: Atlassian, GitHub, Slack, Cloudflare, and Artifactory. Experience working with a major cloud provider, preferably Google Cloud Platform Experience migrating self-hosted infrastructure and software to the cloud. Excellent technical and problem-solving skills. In addition, to be successful in this role, you should have the following attributes: Skilled in cloud-based technologies. Working conditions The Lead Systems Engineer is here to provide support, direction, and inspiration. This is an office-based role, and you are required to be in the Delft office a minimum of three days a week. You will be working within a team of other Systems Engineers. You will also work with and get support from external parties and across the entire Seequent team. Seequent will provide you opportunities to extend your professional skills by giving you ownership of projects.
