Role As a Development Platform Developer, you will establish and refine the release process for Geotechnical Analysis and PLAXIS desktop and cloud products. You will also work with modern cloud technologies to build the Internal Development Platform for Evo (Seequent’s geoscience data and compute platform), enhancing the Developer Experience for various engineering teams across Seequent. This role requires close collaboration with development teams, who will be your main stakeholders. The Lead Development Platform Developer and the Geotechnical Analysis/PLAXIS engineering leadership will direct you on priorities to deliver successful business outcomes for Seequent. Duties and responsibilities Geotechnical Analysis Build and Release Management Develop, maintain and enhance building, packaging, testing, and release of the Geotechnical Analysis and PLAXIS cloud and desktop products Collaborate with team members to refactor build pipelines, so that they align with other business units where appropriate Migrate on-prem infrastructure to the cloud Manage systems using Infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and Configuration-as-code (CaC) Ensure build and release infrastructure is modern and secure EVO Internal Development Platform Build an Internal Development Platform that conceals infrastructural complexity, allowing developers to deploy services easily and quickly Implement important additions or solutions to the Internal Development Platform using modern cloud technologies Respond quickly to timeboxed or time-sensitive tasks related to the Internal Development Platform Take initiative to implement solutions that enhance Developer Experience Ensure your solutions are secure and observable, so that productionizing them is simpler Teamwork and Communication Collaborate with a development pod or pods to understand build and release priorities Regularly meet with development pods to revise priorities if required Participate in engineering rituals like bug triage meetings and demos Share your knowledge broadly, eliminating business risks and inefficiencies Work closely with the Production Infrastructure Engineering team to productionise cloud deployments Maintain high documentation standards to allow knowledge distribution throughout the team Adeptly communicate asynchronously through tickets and communication tools Qualifications The following technical qualifications, experience, and skills set are required: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent 3+ years working in build or infrastructure engineering roles Proficiency with CI/CD Pipelines (i.e. Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Gitlab, etc.) Experience with the following tools: Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform Experience working with cloud providers like Google Cloud Platform, Azure, and AWS Working knowledge of Python and/or Rust In addition, to be successful in this role, you should have the following attributes: A keen interest to learn new cloud-based technologies Ability to discuss technical details with peers and more senior colleagues confidently Excellent interpersonal skills to develop and build sustainable working relationships The ability to be persistent, patient, innovative, and work in a fast paced and constantly changing environment. You will also work with and get support from external parties and across the entire Seequent team. This is a hybrid role, so you are required to be in the Calgary Seequent office two days a week.
