CoxHealth offers a variety of additional benefits to further support your financial and personal well-being. You have the option to enhance your coverage with supplemental life insurance, accident insurance, critical care insurance, hospital care insurance and identity protection. 

These optional benefits provide added protection in times of unexpected events. These additional benefits offer flexible coverage to fit all of our employees' needs through their different stages of life.

Benefits Overview

Eligibility

Employees in positions requisitioned for 40 hours (.5 FTE) or more per pay period (every two weeks) are considered benefits-eligible. Eligible family members include: 

  • spouse biological or legally adopted children 
  • step-children under the age of 26 
  • children aged 26 and older that have been deemed disabled by the Social Security Administration prior to turning 26

Dental and Vision

CoxHealth provides dental coverage through Delta Dental, offering three coverage options to suit different needs: $500, $1,000, and $1,500. These options allow employees to select the level of coverage that best fits their dental care requirements and budget. CoxHealth provides two vision coverage options through Superior by MetLife and VSP Vision Care. Both plans help cover the cost of eye exams, lenses, frames, and contacts—offering employees valuable support for their vision care needs.

Retirement

CoxHealth’s Savings Incentive Plan, a 403(b) retirement plan, allows employees to contribute either pre-tax or Roth dollars, with CoxHealth matching contributions up to 5%. Employees are not automatically enrolled, giving them the flexibility to join when ready. Additionally, CoxHealth provides a free retirement advisement service to help employees review their options, set up their account, and choose investments that align with their retirement goals. 

Medical

CoxHealth understands that everyone’s health needs are different, which is why we developed two unique plans: the Exclusive Plan and the Choice Plan. The Exclusive Plan is a tier one option with a lower premium and co-pay structure, making it cost-effective for those who prefer to stay within the CoxHealth network. The Choice Plan, a tier three option, provides access to a broader network, offering more flexibility in provider selection for those who want expanded care options.

Flexible Spending

CoxHealth offers a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) program for Medical and Dependent Care. This allows employees to set aside pre-tax dollars (up to the IRS max) to cover eligible medical, dental, vision expenses and dependent care expenses. This program helps reduce taxable income while providing a convenient way to pay for out-of-pocket health care and dependent care costs throughout the year. 

Time Away from Work 

Paid Time Off

Employees in benefits-eligible positions (0.5 FTE or above) at CoxHealth accrue Paid Time Off (PTO) each pay period. This PTO covers vacation, holidays, and personal time. Accrual rates vary based on years of service and employment status, allowing employees to earn more time off as they continue their tenure with CoxHealth.

Accumulated Disability Benefits

CoxHealth provides accumulated disability benefits (ADB) for eligible employees. employees accumulate disability benefits based on the hours they work, up to a maximum of 80 hours per pay period. ADB may only be used to cover absences for its intended purpose: to protect employees from income loss when the employee is absent from work because of the employee’s illness or injury. 

Parental Leave

CoxHealth offers parental leave for eligible employees to bond with a new child through birth or adoption. Employees may receive up to two consecutive weeks of compensation, based on their requisitioned hours, with a maximum of 80 hours. This benefit provides valuable paid time off to support employees during this important life event. 

Adoption Assistance

CoxHealth offers adoption assistance to support eligible employees through the adoption process. This benefit includes unpaid leave—along with the option for employees to use their accrued time off to receive compensation during their leave, providing flexibility and financial support as they welcome a new child into their family. 

Bereavement Leave

CoxHealth provides bereavement leave for Eligible Employees to provide support to employee who have experience the loss of a family member. Bereavement leave with pay will be granted for regularly scheduled work days missed due to a death in the employee’s covered family.

 

Short-Term Disability

Short-term disability coverage is an optional benefit that eligible employees (.5 FTE and above) can choose to enroll in. With this coverage, employees will be eligible to receive payment during the event of a disability resulting from a covered accident, illness, or pregnancy that results in the loss of income for greater than seven calendar days. 

Employer Paid Benefits 

Long-Term Disability

CoxHealth offers long-term disability (LTD) insurance to full-time employees after they have completed one year of continuous employment. This benefit ensures income protection in case an employee becomes unable to work for an extended period due to a serious illness or injury.

Group Life Insurance

CoxHealth provides group life AD&D insurance to full-time employees after one year of continuous employment. This benefit offers financial protection for employees and their beneficiaries in case of death or certain serious injuries resulting from an accident. 

Insurance Options

AD&D

CoxHealth offers an optional AD&D benefit to full-time employees, allowing them to elect additional coverage beyond the basic plan provided. This optional AD&D insurance provides extra financial protection in the event of an accidental death or serious injury 

Supplemental Insurances

CoxHealth offers the option to enroll in supplemental insurance options to eligible employees (.5 FTE and above). This includes coverage for Accidental Injury, Critical Illness, and Hospital Care. These plans provide additional financial support for unexpected health events, helping to cover costs associated with accidents, serious illnesses, and hospital stays that may not be fully covered by standard health insurance.

Identity Protection Insurance

CoxHealth offers an optional identity protection insurance plan to provide employees with additional security and peace of mind. This benefit helps safeguard against identity theft and associated costs by offering monitoring services, alerts, and financial protection if an identity theft event occurs.

Employee Assistance

Employee Assistance Program

CoxHealth provides an employee assistance program (EAP) for employees and their dependents, offering free services designed to support overall well-being. This program includes confidential counseling, coaching, stress management resources, and other tools to help navigate personal and professional challenges. Available at no cost, the EAP aims to enhance mental, emotional, and overall well-being, ensuring employees and their families have access to essential support whenever needed.

Educational Assistance

CoxHealth provides a variety of strategic programs designed to foster a highly specialized workforce, create opportunities for career advancement at CoxHealth, and increase employee engagement. The financial assistance provided through such programs is designed to assist employees with education costs and support workforce development at CoxHealth. Certain eligibility requirements apply for each program.
