Screen Room Technician

As Screen Room Technician, you will report to the Screen Room Supervisor and Decoration Manager. You will prepare and produce mesh screens to be used on various print machines in print units.

Working Hours :Monday – Thursday 8am to 5pm, Friday 8am to 4pm


Key Job Accountabilities

As part of the Screen Room Technician Role you will

• To prepare used screens to enable them to be used and stretched for further jobs, i.e. scrape and glue.
• To stretch screens to specified tension levels and angle positions before attaching to frames.
• To clean and prepare stretched screens with cleaning agents to prevent mesh blockages.
• To prepare and coat (emulsion or capillary) stretched screens ready for exposure.
• To wash screens using pressure washer to ensure image is clear with no blockages present.
• To expose required images to the correct offset/ position and mark with artwork spec number.
• To QC check all work ensuring all prepared screens are correctly made and produced to required specifications and quality guidelines, ready to dispatch to required print unit within required time.
• Ensure that your work area is kept safe, clean and tidy
• Adhere to stated policies and procedures relating to; Health and Safety, Quality and Environment Management.
• Any other reasonable tasks requested by management

Qualifications/Requirements

• • The ability to work on one’s own initiative to achieve objectives and taking accountability for work/actions undertaken
• The ability to communicate effectively, mainly verbally, and at all levels within the Company
• Confident in challenging existing practices and looking for continuous improvement in all areas of work
• Is able to work as part of a team to achieve team objectives and make accurate records of daily outputs.
• Confident in understanding and matching reference numbers.
• Able to respond positively to changing work demands and meet daily targets set.
• Takes decisive action to address and react to opportunities and problems in day-to-day work
• Is conscientious and thorough in all aspects of work responsibilities, and has a professional approach to work
• Has a logical and methodical approach to problem solving/ exposure difficulties
• Ability to listen and take up new skills
• Be able to make decisions and report to a Screen room supervisor and to the Decoration Manager.
• Ability to undertake duties in every respect as laid out in the job description (further to training if required)
• The ability to use Windows based computer software
• Proven experience of working in a fast-moving production environment
• Proven experience of screen making preferable
