Director of Operations

Greater Philadelphia, PA April 24, 2026 Full Time

About the Company

We are a private, high-growth manufacturer of engineered materials used in extreme industrial environments. We specialize in high-performance formulations where reliability and precision are non-negotiable. Our organization is currently transitioning from a lean, entrepreneurial shop to a scaled, process-driven operation. We are looking for a leader to bridge the gap between our technical excellence and our future capacity.

The Role

The Director of Operations will serve as the primary architect of our daily manufacturing and administrative workflows. This is a high-autonomy role designed for a leader who thrives in "mid-sized" environments ($20M–$75M+) and enjoys the challenge of professionalizing operations without losing the company's entrepreneurial spirit. You will own the P&L impact of the floor, optimize supply chain logistics, and ensure our technical products meet rigorous customer standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Architecture: Streamline production scheduling, procurement, and logistics to support a 2x increase in throughput.
  • Process Engineering: Audit existing manufacturing bottlenecks and implement scalable solutions (LEAN/Six Sigma) that don't sacrifice quality.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Manage the integration between the production floor and the front-office functions (finance, order entry, and customer service).
  • Systems Management: Drive the utilization of ERP data to make informed decisions on inventory levels and capital expenditures.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of leadership in a specialized manufacturing environment (chemicals, polymers, coatings, or advanced materials preferred).
  • Educational Background: A degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial) is highly preferred to understand our complex formulation processes.
  • The "Builder" Mentality: You have a track record of taking a "tight-knit" operation and implementing the systems required for the next level of growth.
  • Local Presence: Ability to be onsite daily in the Northern Philadelphia suburbs.
