What you will do

What will you do 

The Scientist, R&D Consumer Science will work within the Consumer Science team as part of an end-to-end R&D organization to support the development of products for APAC region.  You will be responsible for consumer research to support multiple brands such as DABAO®, NEUTROGENA®, AVEENO® BABY, and LISTERINE® across multiple categories such as skin care, oral care, and baby care.  You will work to foster a consumer-centric culture within the R&D organization to build deep consumer empathy through effective communication and collaboration with cross-functional partners. You will leverage both traditional consumer research methodologies as well as digital research tools to meet key project objectives.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Pilot new approaches and methodologies including those that leverage data science, advanced analytics, and AI where appropriate  

  • Execute Consumer Learning Plans in collaboration with key cross-functional partners (Marketing, Insights, Design, and Formulation) to meet project needs and answer key consumer questions  

  • Design and execute exploratory qualitative and quantitative research, product design and optimization research, benchmarking studies, and consumer perceived claims validation studies with input from Senior/Principal Consumer Science partners  

  • Effectively communicate consumer insights and actionable recommendations to the cross-functional team  

  • Participate in analysis and interpretation of results and communication to project teams  

  • Participate in Global Consumer Science community of practice to support a consumer-centric culture in the R&D organization 

  • Ensure all activities are conducted in accordance with high ethical/quality standards and all applicable policies and procedures 

 

What we are looking for

Qualifications: 

·       Bachelor's or Master’s degree with at least 1-2 years of industry experience in qualitative and quantitative research in Consumer Science, Consumer Technical Insights, Sensory Science, Food Science, Psychology, Consumer Behavior, or Market Research.  

·       Strong analytical thinking and communication skills; comfortable presenting data and recommendations to key stakeholders  

·       Highly collaborative, able to work closely within Consumer Science and cross-functionally with R&D and other business partners including Design and Insights.  

·       Experience with a broad range of consumer research methods including product and concept testing, quant/qual, product benchmarking, and drivers of liking is preferred. 

·       Experience in data science and use of digital consumer science tools is preferred.
