The Position

Scientist, Assay Transfer

The Opportunity

As a pivotal member of the Assay Transfer team, you will bridge the gap between R&D and production by leading process characterization and manufacturing strategies for new reagent products. This role combines high-level laboratory research with strategic consultancy, tasking you with investigating scientific concepts to ensure manufacturability, securing intellectual property through patent applications, and contributing to global scientific literature. By blending creative problem-solving with technical documentation and peer mentorship, you will drive the successful transition of innovative discoveries into reliable, large-scale manufacturing solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Product & Process Transfer: Serves as the primary bridge between R&D and Operations, ensuring new products and assays are manufacturable, efficient, and successfully transitioned to global manufacturing sites.
  • Experimental Design & Analysis: Drives advanced research and experimental design using statistical tools like DOE, Cpk, and Gage R&R to analyze data, form conclusions, and optimize processes.
  • Innovation & Intellectual Property: Identifies technical challenges and creates novel, potentially patentable solutions for reagents, components, or systems to improve long-term sustainability.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Represents Assay Transfer on cross-functional teams, collaborating with senior staff and stakeholders to define project scopes, share expertise, and deliver high-stakes presentations.
  • Operational Excellence: Works independently under high-level direction to implement workflow improvements and ensure all deliverables adhere to "Quality First Time" standards.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Scientific field with 8 years relevant experience OR

  • Master’s Degree in Scientific field with 3 years relevant experience OR

  • Ph.D in Scientific field entry level.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Highly experienced in communication and conflict resolution between different groups is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrates potential for technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others and independent thought.
  • Strong understanding of scientific principles and concepts.
  • Some knowledge of manufacturing processes preferred.
  • Experience with lean concepts and design for six sigma preferred.
  • Applies advanced technical writing skills to produce reports and documents.

The expected salary range for this position based on Arizona is 82 700,00 - 153 700,00 USD Annual.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
