SAP Portal BE
Key Responsibilities
Develop and enhance back-end components for SAP Enterprise Portal (EP).
Build custom Portal Applications (PAR files, Web Dynpro Java components, EPCM services).
Implement Java-based back-end logic, Portal services, and custom iView logic.
Integrate SAP EP with ECC/S/4HANA, CRM, BW, or other SAP and non-SAP systems.
Work with J2EE stack, Portal Runtime, and NetWeaver Development Infrastructure (NWDI).
Develop and maintain Portal Roles, PCD objects, Navigation structures (in coordination with FE/admin).
Implement Web Services, RFC/IDoc-based integrations, and Portal connectors.
Troubleshoot Portal performance, caching, session handling, and back-end runtime issues.
Assist in Portal upgrades, migrations, and transition to SAP Build Work Zone (optional).
Prepare technical designs, documentation, and deployment packages.
Collaborate with UI/FE developers, architects, and Basis teams.
Required Skills
Strong experience with SAP Enterprise Portal (EP) back-end development.
Expertise in Java / J2EE, Web Dynpro Java, and Portal development frameworks.
Hands-on experience with NetWeaver Developer Studio (NWDS), NWDI, and CTS+.
Strong understanding of SAP EP architecture, PCD, Portal Runtime, and Portal services.
Experience integrating SAP Portal with SAP ERP/S4HANA, BW, CRM, PI/CPI.
Knowledge of Web Services (SOAP/REST), XML, JSON, OData, RFC, and JCo.
Understanding of Portal security, authentication (SAML, LDAP, UME), and SSO concepts.
Good-to-Have Skills
Experience with SAP UI5/Fiori integration into Portal.
Knowledge of SAP Web Dispatcher, load balancing, and Portal performance tuning.
Exposure to SAP BTP Work Zone / Launchpad Service modernization.
Familiarity with SAP ABAP concepts (helpful for troubleshooting).
Knowledge of cloud connectors and hybrid integration scenarios.
