The opportunity

The Risk & Compliance Advisory Practice Lead – Investment and Product is a senior leadership role within Netwealth’s Legal, Risk & Compliance function, combining people leadership with hands‑on advisory impact.

You’ll lead the Investment and Product Risk & Compliance Advisory team, providing independent check, challenge and oversight across investment risk management, product governance and distribution. The role is pivotal in supporting a product‑led operating environment, enabling strategic growth while maintaining strong risk and regulatory outcomes.

Working closely with senior leaders across Investment, Product, Marketing, Sales & Distribution and Strategic Accounts, you’ll deliver pragmatic, high‑quality risk and compliance advice that helps the business move fast, safely and within risk appetite.

What you’ll do

  • Lead, coach and develop the Investment and Product Risk & Compliance Advisory team.

  • Provide independent risk and compliance advice across investment risk management, product governance and distribution.

  • Deliver effective check, challenge and oversight of risk assessments, incidents, breaches, issues and remediation plans.

  • Oversee Line 2 assurance activities, including assessment of control design and operational effectiveness.

  • Support governance committees and regulatory engagement activities.

  • Partner with senior stakeholders to provide proportionate, practical advice aligned to business objectives.

  • Drive continuous improvement across risk frameworks, reporting, KRIs and controls.

  • Prepare and present risk insights and reporting to Executives and Committees.

About you

You’re an experienced risk and compliance leader with deep expertise in investment and product risk, and a strong ability to influence in complex environments. You balance independent Line 2 oversight with a collaborative, commercial mindset, and enjoy building capable, trusted advisory teams.

What you’ll bring

  • 7+ years’ experience in financial services risk and compliance, including senior advisory and people leadership roles.

  • Deep expertise in investment risk management, product governance and distribution risk.

  • Strong Line 2 judgement with confidence providing independent, proportionate challenge.

  • Experience overseeing incidents, breaches, issues and remediation.

  • Proven ability to lead, coach and uplift teams while contributing as a senior SME.

  • Strong executive and senior stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Clear communication of complex risk matters to Executives, Committees and regulators.

  • A proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement, integrity and accountability.
