Tesla Energy is redefining how consumers interact with renewable energy through innovative retail electricity and virtual power plant (VPP) programs. As a Retail Operations Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in scaling these initiatives in Australia, ensuring reliable execution of customer-facing and backend processes. This role requires a balance of operational rigor and customer-centric problem-solving to support Tesla’s mission of accelerating the global transition to sustainable energy. By optimising workflows, managing critical systems, and fostering collaboration across teams, you’ll help unlock the potential of distributed residential energy resources to transform the grid.  
  • Support end-to-end operations for Tesla’s energy retail products, including customer account setup, service order processing, and data governance to ensure accuracy and compliance. 

  • Coordinate with external stakeholders (utilities, regulators, partners) to ensure compliance with energy market rules and program-specific requirements for both retail and VPP initiatives. 

  • Develop and maintain scalable processes for onboarding customers into retail electricity and VPP programs, prioritizing efficiency, accuracy, and a seamless user experience. 

  • Partner with Commercial Operations, Engineering, Data Analytics and Compliance teams to troubleshoot operational bottlenecks and implement solutions. 

  • Lead training sessions for Customer Support teams to standardize knowledge of retail operations and enhance cross-functional alignment. 

  • Monitor and audit operational metrics to identify inefficiencies and drive continuous improvement using first principles thinking. 

  • Oversee asset remediation, maintenance coordination, and stakeholder communication for our VPP programs, ensuring SLA commitments, timely issue resolution, and compliance with contractual and regulatory standards. 

  • 3+ years of experience in energy retail operations, utility program management, or a related field. 

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex customer accounts and service workflows in a regulated environment. 

  • Strong understanding of energy market structures, billing systems, and compliance frameworks (e.g., retail licenses, grid regulations). 

  • Proficiency in ERP platforms, CRM tools, or energy management software (e.g., SAP, Salesforce, EnergyIP). 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or business-related discipline preferred, but not required. 

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to distill technical concepts for diverse audiences. 

  • Highly organized, with a track record of prioritizing tasks in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
