Retail Horticulturist (Supervisor Level)

The Role
As a Retail Horticulturist, you will be at the heart of the garden centre, combining expert plant knowledge with strong retail leadership.
You will:
- Deliver outstanding customer experiences through expert advice on the selection, establishment, and care of plants, trees, and flowers
- Actively drive sales by promoting products, seasonal lines, and services
- Lead, motivate, and support the retail team to achieve high standards in customer service and performance
- Coordinate daily operations, including merchandising, stock control, and shop floor presentation
- Ensure the garden centre is fully stocked, visually appealing, and commercially competitive
- Oversee pricing, barcoding, and EPOS systems with strong attention to detail
- Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for both customers and staff
Leadership & Daily Responsibilities
- Plan and organise daily activities with the team, ensuring clear direction and priorities
- Supervise and support staff, fostering a positive and productive team culture
- Handle customer queries and resolve issues in a professional and friendly manner
- Monitor stock levels, identify gaps, and ensure timely replenishment
- Coordinate in-store promotions and seasonal displays to maximise sales
- Uphold high standards in merchandising, housekeeping, and compliance

- Strong horticultural knowledge with a genuine passion for plants
- A natural ability to engage customers and deliver expert advice
- Proven experience in retail, sales, or a customer-facing environment
- Leadership skills that inspire trust, teamwork, and high performance
- Highly organised, self-motivated, and solutions-focused
- Comfortable using IT systems and retail technology
- Desirable Relevant horticultural qualification
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a similar role
