Researcher/Scientist III, AEGIS Consortium (College of Medicine-Phoenix)
Creates, conceptualizes, and executes research endeavors, evaluates the data, and keeps appropriate records of all research activities. Cross-correlate and integrate results from different types of analysis and report on findings. Together with PI, formulate hypotheses on new pathways underlying immune aging. Independently apply advanced wet-lab techniques in immunology and virology to conduct experiments investigating microbial pathogens and the intersection of aging and infections on biological outcomes. Applies extensive knowledge to tasks and demonstrates proficiency in using university systems and departmental tools. Review and evaluate current research developments/literature to inform research design and refine experimental approaches. Contribute to scientific discussions by presenting experimental findings or progress updates, and attend mandatory lab meetings. May co-author publications and co-present findings with principal investigators at conferences or meetings. Participate and/or attend departmental functions and lectures. In collaboration with the PI, will assist in developing and securing research funding and writing grant proposals. Perform assigned lab duties to assist in the maintenance of stock reagents or the general operation of the lab, and various other duties or projects as assigned. Train and oversee undergraduate and graduate students, postdocs, and other personnel in a wide range of essential procedures and techniques. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Basic understanding of virus-host interactions and immune aging. Eager to perform novel multidisciplinary experiments.
