This position is being advertised contingent upon award; while the recruitment process will proceed as part of organizational preparedness, no formal offer will be extended until funding is confirmed POSITION SUMMARY: The Rehabilitation Officer will support the coordination and implementation of rehabilitation services within Project HOPE’s Gaza Response program. In the context of active conflict, high numbers of trauma-related injuries, disability risks, and limited access to specialized services, the Rehabilitation Officer plays a key role in strengthening rehabilitation programming and ensuring continuity of care for affected populations. The position supports integrated rehabilitation interventions within health facilities and mobile services, promotes disability inclusion, and contributes to monitoring and quality assurance of rehabilitation activities. The Rehabilitation Officer ensures alignment with national guidelines, WHO standards, and humanitarian principles, while embedding safeguarding, accountability, and Do No Harm approaches in all programming. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Program Implementation Support coordination and implementation of rehabilitation services, including physiotherapy and occupational therapy activities. Assist in assessing rehabilitation needs among conflict-affected and displaced populations. Support development and monitoring of individualized rehabilitation plans in collaboration with clinical teams. Identify barriers to service access and assess rehabilitation needs and functional limitations using standardized tools, proposing practical solutions to improve service accessibility and care outcomes. Referral and Service Coordination Contribute to referral pathways for specialized rehabilitation or assistive technology services. Promote disability inclusion and equitable access to rehabilitation services. Assist in community mapping of resources and rehabilitation referral networks. Quality Assurance and Monitoring Monitor quality of rehabilitation services and ensure adherence to established protocols and guidelines. Maintain accurate records and contribute to reporting in line with Project HOPE and donor requirements. Ensure rehabilitation services are delivered in line with safeguarding, protection mainstreaming, accountability, and Do No Harm principles. Coordination and Partnerships Participate in coordination meetings with health and protection actors when required. Support participation in Rehabilitation Task Force coordination meetings and engagement with partners such as WHO and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with updated technical guidance and protocols. Support procurement planning and tracking of rehabilitation equipment and assistive devices. Contribute to capacity building of local staff on basic rehabilitation principles and disability inclusion. Identify barriers to service access and assess rehabilitation needs and functional limitations using standardized tools, proposing practical solutions to improve service accessibility and care outcomes. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Rehabilitation Sciences, Public Health, or a related field. proficiency in English both written and verbal is required. Preferably Minimum 3 yrs of experience in rehabilitation programming or clinical rehabilitation services. Experience working in humanitarian or emergency settings is strongly preferred. Strong understanding of rehabilitation principles and disability inclusion frameworks. Experience in program monitoring, documentation, and reporting. Ability to work in high-pressure, resource-constrained, and conflict-affected environments. Strong coordination and communication skills. Demonstrated commitment to humanitarian principles and safeguarding standards. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working in conflict-affected or hardship contexts such as Gaza. Familiarity with WHO rehabilitation guidelines and humanitarian health standards (Sphere). Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary health and protection teams. Training in community-based rehabilitation (CBR) or assistive device programming. Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be mobile in an office environment and able to use standard office equipment. Must be able to communicate in verbal and written form and must be able to travel internationally. Project HOPE employees may be required to travel or work in countries where working conditions are classified as “hardship.” Work environment: Typical office environment with exposure to a minimal noise level. Emergency deployments may be in resource-deprived environments with austere living conditions. Travel for extended periods may be by air and/or other modes of transportation. While international travel is not a regular part of every job, programmatic needs may require it intermittently.
