About the Team

You will join Keysight’s R&D team in Bochum, focused on advanced electronic test and validation solutions for high-performance systems. The team operates at the intersection of electronics, measurement science, and system validation, supporting the development of next-generation technologies across industrial, semiconductor, and research applications.

Working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, you will partner closely with design engineers, manufacturing teams, and quality specialists to ensure robust, reliable, and scalable test solutions. The team combines strong theoretical engineering foundations with hands-on lab expertise, contributing directly to product performance and reliability across the full development lifecycle.

About the Role

As an Electronics Design Validation Engineer, you will focus on validating and testing complex electronic systems used in high-performance environments. The role emphasizes electrical engineering fundamentals, measurement technology, and automated test development rather than photonics specialization.

You will design, implement, and optimize automated test solutions that ensure product robustness, accuracy, and compliance. This includes working with high-voltage and high-power systems, integrating instrumentation, and developing software-based test frameworks.

This position is ideal for engineers with strong backgrounds in electronics, analog/mixed-signal systems, instrumentation, or test automation, who enjoy combining hands-on lab work with structured engineering problem solving.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test systems for design validation and production (ATE)
  • Plan and execute electrical tests for high-power and high-voltage systems
  • Develop test automation software using Python, C#, LabVIEW, or MATLAB
  • Integrate and control electronic instrumentation via SCPI, VISA, or similar communication interfaces
  • Define test strategies, measurement setups, and validation procedures for electronic subsystems
  • Analyze measurement results and identify root causes of performance deviations
  • Collaborate closely with R&D, hardware design, and manufacturing teams to improve product quality
  • Create clear technical documentation including test specifications, reports, and validation protocols
  • Support continuous improvement of measurement accuracy, reliability, and efficiency

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or similar technical field
  • Strong foundation in electrical engineering fundamentals (analog circuits, signals, measurement techniques)
  • Experience with test engineering, design validation, or measurement systems
  • Programming experience in at least one language such as Python, C#, MATLAB, or LabVIEW
  • Experience working with laboratory instrumentation (oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, signal generators, electronic loads, etc.)
  • Structured and analytical problem-solving mindset

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with automated test equipment (ATE) or production test environments
  • Familiarity with high-power or high-voltage systems
  • Experience with SCPI, VISA, GPIB, LAN, or similar instrument communication protocols
  • Understanding of mixed-signal or embedded systems testing
  • Experience designing test fixtures, PCBs, or measurement setups
  • Familiarity with measurement uncertainty concepts or quality standards (e.g., ISO-related environments)
  • Experience with CAD tools or mechanical design for test setups (e.g., NX, Creo)
  • Exposure to multidisciplinary environments (e.g., photonics, semiconductor, RF, or power electronics)
