About you and this role
We have a great opportunity as an R&D Technician in the Process Chemistry & Technology Development team within Packaging, Specialty Plastics & Hydrocarbons R&D, located in Terneuzen, the Netherlands.
This job offers an exceptional opportunity to join an R&D organization excelling in innovation research in Europe and to contribute to solving the challenges of today and tomorrow in Sustainability, Emission Reduction and Waste Plastics Recycling, and in Manufacturing Process developments and/or improvements.
You will provide technical support to Scientists and Project Leaders in the development of new technologies for the optimization and decarbonization of Dow’s manufacturing plants. The candidate will be responsible for the preparation and execution of experimental activities and studies, for the safe operation of lab scale equipment, data collection and documentation. The successful candidate will work in diverse teams, is enthusiastic about learning and exploring new topics and will have strong communication skills.
Responsibilities
- You work as part of a team in a laboratory setting, supporting chemists and engineers in developing knowledge and evaluating new materials and process options.
- You manage and then safely execute laboratory work requests, calibrating, maintaining, troubleshooting and running relevant laboratory apparatus and testing equipment, and documenting data.
- You develop experimental plans for review/approval by your project team and execute approved plans by performing routine and non-standard tasks or procedures of higher complexity.
- You achieve project goals using technical, role-specific skills and experience, and introduce new procedures for new instrument methods, equipment changes, or new equipment.
- You actively participate in work group team meetings to address safety, process improvement, problem solving, and other work group, department, and functional topics.
Qualifications
- You have an MBO-4, an associate degree, or a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, applied chemistry, analytical chemistry, process technology, chemical engineering, or equivalent.
- You are eager to learn and explore new technologies and techniques, analytical methods, and related software tools.
- Prior experience in the operation of reactor system is preferred.
- You are a good communicator with working knowledge of English.
- You bring a proactive, hands-on and can-do attitude to work but with a safety-first mindset.

- Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work – Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, effectively prioritizing tasks and deadlines.
