Your Role: Own the Challenge
In this role, you will contribute to ABB’s success through technology, software, product, and system development. You will identify and implement innovative solutions to engineering challenges while collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams. You will have the opportunity to share ideas, work independently, and actively contribute as part of a Research & Development (R&D) team.
The work model for the role is: Onsite
Global relocation/LTA support will not be considered for this position.
This role is contributing to the Panelboards chapter, primarily supporting the Develop & Care Power Panels Agile Team in Apodaca, N.L. México.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and support manufacturing implementation of engineering programs that meet business, program, and product requirements, including functionality, cost, reliability, manufacturability, and safety.
- Identify, investigate, prioritize, and execute opportunities to improve the product line, focusing on operational efficiency, manufacturability improvements, and cost reduction.
- Support Operations by resolving quality, supply chain, and production issues that require R&D involvement.
- Lead and contribute to R&D projects from concept development through manufacturing implementation, ensuring delivery on quality, schedule, scope, and cost targets while identifying and managing risks.
- Execute designs using solid modeling tools (PTC Creo / Windchill) to develop 3D models, assemblies, detailed drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs), including plastic, stamped metal, and electrically conductive components.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the chapter by helping develop new capabilities, skills, technical knowledge, performance standards, and culture.

Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in R&D or a related engineering field.
- Experience in mechanical design, including 3D modeling and 2D drawings using PTC Creo or similar tools.
- Knowledge of engineering analysis techniques.
- Experience in electromechanical design, testing, and certification standards for electrical equipment (e.g., panelboards, switchboards, circuit breakers) is preferred.
- Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and a passion for developing products in the electrification market.
- Growth mindset, with comfort working in an agile, fast‑paced environment.
- Strong communication skills in Spanish and English.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally on an occasional basis.
- Valid work authorization in Mexico.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related.
