Quantum Researcher (Experimental)

Other, Other, JP April 15, 2026 Full Time

Overview

Lead the development of the next-generation ion trap quantum computers and foundational technologies that will enable truly scalable and practical quantum computing. We are looking for AMO experimentalists with skills in operating lasers, optics, UHV systems and electronics, and with knowledge in cavity QED and quantum optics theory. In addition, researchers with expertise in microfabrication, integrated photonics and MEMS are highly valued.

Detail

  • Engage in the research and development of quantum hardware
  • Design experimental setups and undertake simulations
  • Build up the experimental setup and evaluate its operation
  • Data acquisition and analysis
  • Contribute to publications, conference presentations and intellectual property development

Research Themes

  • Cavity QED experiments directly connected to scalable ion-trap quantum computing.
  • Ion trapping: design, operation, and characterization of trapped-ion systems.
  • Development and integration of micro-optics and MEMS for quantum experiments.

Position Highlights

  • Close collaboration with theorists and engineers to translate concepts into working hardware and measurements.
  • Opportunity to play a central role in the real-world deployment of ion-trap quantum computers, working at the interface of cutting-edge research and system engineering.
  • Early-stage growth phase (second year since founding), offering broad responsibility, technical ownership, and meaningful influence over design choices and strategy.
  • English-speaking, international environment, collaborating closely with world-class researchers and engineers across theory, experiment, hardware, and software.
  • Strong emphasis on tight feedback loops between theory, experiment, hardware, and control software.
