Quality Technician
Tesla Toronto Automation seeks a detail-oriented professional to join the quality control team as a CMM Quality Technician. This role is critical to ensuring the precision and quality of our machined components through advanced inspection techniques and equipment.
Shift: 4:00 PM – 1:30 AM; Monday through Friday
- Program and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) to inspect machined parts
- Perform visual and manual inspections using surface plates and precision measurement tools
- Interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles
- Align workpieces and build custom holding fixtures to optimize inspection accuracy
- Analyze measurement results and determine part conformity
- Maintain and calibrate CMM equipment
- Document inspection results, communicate findings, support continuous improvement, and troubleshoot machinery/program issues
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a machine shop operating and programming CMMs
- Proficiency in MCosmos, CAT1000, MiCAT Planner, or PolyWorks considered an asset
- Strong understanding of GD&T and mechanical inspection principles
- Experience using precision tools such as micrometers, bore gages, height gages, and profile projectors
- Ability to interpret and analyze inspection data for accuracy and compliance
- Skilled in setting up, aligning parts, performing CMM calibration, working independently or in a team, and handling physical demands (standing, lifting up to 35 lbs.)
