Quality Manager
This role is based in our manufacturing plant in Großenbrode, Germany.

About the role
The Quality Manager is overall responsible for maintaining and developing the overall quality management system (ISO 9001) and the food safety management system (FSSC 22000) through:
External and internal audits, including GMP inspections
Training of employees including creating a quality and food safety culture on site
Process optimizations
Active participation in the Plant Management Team
Customer complaints handling
Off-grade investigations
Work with Regional QA on site performance and continuous improvements
Monitor KPI’s
Engage with customers, e.g., during customer audits and/or complaints resolution
Delegate responsibilities like supplier audit, internal audit/approval, communication with authorities or other relevant 3rd parties.
Develop systems incl. HACCP plan CCP’s/OPRP’s
Develop the team including maintaining a well-trained staff in the QC lab
Ensuring that the laboratories are a safe place to work
Optimization of lab routines to meet internal and customer expectation
Work with regional sites, regional QA and CQC on optimizing the QC function and potentially implement new technology to LEAN out the function.
Approval of test methods, including validation before setting up specs for new products.
Develop and oversee a robust QC department, ensuring effectiveness and good service to the site as well as to customers.
Alignment of instrumentation and methodologies
Focus on team and employee satisfaction.
Ensure timely disposition of products and inventory overview, including returned product.
Principal accountabilities/activities:
Maintaining the ISO9001 and FSSC22000 certifications, being the management representative for these two standards.
Point-of-contact for customer audits and governmental inspections
Point-of-contact for Global and Regional quality and food safety initiatives
Point of contact for any plant related quality/food safety crisis event including support the Regional quality lead, the incident management team and the crisis management team (local/global)
Ensure planning and coordinating internal quality and food safety audits
Participate in 3rd party quality and food safety audits
Participate in and eventually lead customer audits
Participate in or eventually lead supplier audits
Driver on the J2E internal efforts
Administration, training and support of the QA system
Heading the local QA-efforts together with the QA Specialist in direct report
Follow-up on corrective and preventive actions, and drive continuous improvements
Food Safety team leader
Participation in Customer Quality teams (ad hoc)
Revision and development of the quality management system
QA approval of projects installing new equipment
Quality Control Management
Ensure staffing to meet customer demands
The right methods for the right purpose, continuous improvement of the analysis strategy and analysis portfolio
Heading the food safety (HACCP) team – and leading local FDA Food Safety Plan efforts:
Facilitating regular meetings and progress on day-to-day issues and preparation for future demands
Ensuring relevant training of the HACCP team and identifying needs for training of manufacturing staff
Safety in All Aspects – The voice of food safety
About you
Master’s degree in chemical engineering, food science or similar, followed by supplementary training in auditing (preferably lead auditor in ISO9001 and FSSC22000) and GMP.
Educational background covering food hygiene at a level exceeding the requirements for staff working in this industry.
Management training.
FSMA Preventive Controls Qualified Individual.
Preferably several years as QA Manager or QC Manager and/or experience within the industry and laboratory management and good laboratory practices.
Understanding of food chemistry, processing and hygiene.
Understanding of characteristics, analyses and application of products.
Laboratory safety
Statistical knowledge.
Ability to manage capability and improvement projects.
Strong communicative skills in German and English (oral and written); strong reporting skills.
Leadership skills and able to motivate, engage and develop people
