Job Summary:

The Quality Engineer works with minimal supervision and uses originality, ingenuity and established procedures to control and monitor quality, ensuring products are consistent with industry standards, government regulations, and customer requirements. This person will also help with our AS9145 (APQP) implementation.

Essential Functions:

  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Suppliers and Customers

  • Collect and analyze production data to evaluate product quality

  • Drive root cause analysis and recommends corrective actions

  • Stop production if serious product defects are present

  • Monitor quality control systems to ensure effectiveness and efficiency

  • Instruct others in quality control and analytical procedures

  • Produce reports regarding nonconformance of products or processes, root cause analyses, or quality trends

  • Review statistical studies, regulatory standards and trends in the field of quality control

  • Identify critical points in the Value Stream and specify sampling procedures

  • Drive qualification of product and process changes to ensure only the highest levels of quality are accepted

  • Support audits with Defense, Aerospace and Customer Auditors

  • Provide support for failure analysis and reliability testing as required

  • Review and approve quality document changes - Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), Manufacturing Change Orders (MCOs), deviations, etc.

  • Utilize a roadmap of continuous improvement for the organization by establishing priorities, methods for strategies and implementation using data to both guide the process as well as monitor the result

  • Any other task assigned by supervisor or management

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Quality, Electrical Engineering or related field required.

  • Proficiency with APQP, PPAP, DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA for AS9145 Process control tools

  • 3-5 years of Quality Engineering experience in an aerospace environment, electronics, or automotive manufacturing setting.

  • Prefer CQE, CQA, CQM or other similar quality certification through ASQ

  • Microsoft Office Products Software (Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel, Outlook)

  • Good oral and written communication skills required to effectively present information, write reports and process instructions, and provide support to various functional groups within Lear Romec

  • Assess, trouble shoot, and support the resolution of technical problems in a timely, cost-effective manner

  • Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with AS9100

  • Educational background in structured problem solving, 5S, mistake-proofing and process capability tools
