Quality Control Leader
Job Summary
Develops and maintains a system to ensure that all product manufactured by the cable assembly department meets customer specifications. Conducts variety of electronic and mechanical tests on electronic systems, subassemblies, and parts to ensure unit functions according to specifications or to determine cause of unit failure. Responsible and has authority for control of inspection, measuring, and test equipment (includes establishing and maintaining documented procedures to control, calibrate and maintain inspection, measuring and test equipment used by the supplier to demonstrate the conformance of product to the specified requirements; control procedures, inspection and test statues, and control of nonconforming product). Responsible and has authority for design validation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
• Develops and maintains test procedures for all cable/receptacle products.
• Responsible for maintaining and calibrating all test equipment.
• Reads test schedule, work orders, test manuals, performance specifications, wiring diagrams, and schematics to determine testing procedure and equipment to be used.
• Tests functional performance of systems, subassemblies, and parts under specified environmental conditions.
• Connects unit to be tested to test equipment.
• Tests finished product by powering up electrical test devices and checking all other components.
• Reads dials or digital displays that indicate electronic characteristics such as voltage, frequency, distortion, and capacitance.
• Determines the cause of failure on defective units.
• Confers with engineers, Production Planning Supervisor, and others regarding testing procedures and results to resolve problems.
• Responsible for validating components used in the assembly of finished goods.
• Responsible for closing work orders in MFG/Pro.
• Evaluates products returned from customers and coordinates required repairs of those products.
• Assists in the design and development of special testing machines.
• Performs position requirements of assembler as required.
LEADER RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs and leads/trains in all functions of QC testing. Maintains an effective department through proper training and assignment of personnel. Maintains good employee relations through assistance of day-to-day problems.
