QA/QC Engineer

Rotterdam, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands February 25, 2026

At Nearfield Instruments we're looking for a QA/QC Engineer to join our team.

About Nearfield Instruments

Nearfield Instruments (NFI) is a fast-growing scale-up high-tech company. We design, develop, integrate, market and service advanced metrology machines. Our machines enables our customers - the world’s leading chipmakers – to increase the production yields, and thus, functionality of their microchips, which in turn leads to smaller, more powerful consumer electronics.

Founded in 2016, we bring together the most creative minds (approx. 320 employees) in science and technology and develop a one-of-a-kind, revolutionary high throughput Scanning Probe Microscopy system.

Where you will be working

This is an excellent opportunity to become part of the QHSE department as we are currently formalizing our QMS and function within NFI as an integral part in our continuous improvement.

What will you be doing?

As a QA/QC Engineer, you play a key role in strengthening our quality management system and ensuring that our products consistently meet the high standards expected by our customers. Your focus is on designing, improving, and implementing quality processes that enhance efficiency, prevent defects, and support organizational scalability. You actively promote the understanding that quality is not a separate department—it is a collective mindset and shared responsibility across the entire organization. Through continuous improvement initiatives, audits, and close cooperation with cross-functional teams, you help us deliver reliable, high-performance solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Systems & Process Improvement

· Develop, optimize, and maintain quality processes, procedures, and standards across the organization.

· Identify inefficiencies and systemic risks; design structural improvements that reduce variability and strengthen process robustness.

· Implement best-practice methodologies such as FMEA, root-cause analysis, CAPA, and statistical quality tools.

· Monitor process performance using data-driven indicators and initiate improvement actions as needed.

· Support the implementation and continuous development of an integrated Quality Management System (e.g., ISO-aligned).

· Promote a culture where quality thinking is embedded in every decision and workflow.

Audit & Compliance

· Plan and conduct internal quality audits to ensure compliance with defined standards and procedures.

· Prepare for and support external audits and customer assessments.

· Follow up audit findings with clear corrective and preventive actions and ensure sustainable closure.

Product Quality & Reliability

· Define quality requirements for new and existing products, ensuring they are embedded into engineering and supply chain processes.

· Support failure analysis and drive structured problem-solving efforts when deviations occur.

· Contribute to qualification activities and validation of new components, suppliers, and assemblies.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

· Train and support colleagues in quality methodologies, fostering awareness and strengthening a culture of continuous improvement.

· Act as an ambassador for the mindset that quality is built by everyone, not inspected by one team.

Why is the position interesting for you?

Scale ups can provide phenomenal learning and development opportunities but can also be a hectic environment at times. You must fit in such a climate and don’t mind to constantly impelement changes and process improvements, be hands-on, and to go the extra mile on a regular basis and feel comfortable with some uncertainty.
