TEAM OVERVIEW
KKR’s Public Policy & Affairs (PPA) function is responsible for shaping and executing the firm’s global public policy, regulatory, and external engagement strategy. The team includes the KKR Global Institute, which focuses on geopolitical risk, alongside regional policy teams across the Americas, EMEA, and Asia-Pacific. PPA plays a critical role in protecting and enhancing KKR’s “license to operate” by:
- Anticipating regulatory and geopolitical developments
- Advising investment teams on policy-related risks and opportunities
- Supporting portfolio companies in navigating complex stakeholder environments
- Engaging with governments, regulators, and industry bodies
The team operates at the intersection of investing, policy, and reputation directly contributing to investment outcomes and long-term value creation.
POSITION SUMMARY
KKR is seeking a Senior Associate / Principal to join its EMEA Public Policy & Affairs team, based in London and reporting to the Head of EMEA Public Policy & Affairs. This individual will play a key role in advising on policy and regulatory developments, supporting investment activity, and driving strategic engagement with government and external stakeholders across EMEA. The role offers significant exposure to senior leadership and sits at the intersection of investment decision-making, geopolitics, and stakeholder management.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor and assess legislative, regulatory, and geopolitical developments across EMEA
- Provide actionable insights to investment teams and leadership on policy-related risks and opportunities
- Maintain a forward-looking view on trends impacting private capital
- Identify and mitigate risks to KKR’s operating environment
- Support initiatives that enhance the firm’s reputation as a provider of “trusted capital”
- Engage proactively with key stakeholders to shape policy outcomes
- Develop and execute engagement strategies across priority EMEA markets
- Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, regulators, and industry groups
- Coordinate senior-level interactions with external stakeholders
- Partner with deal teams to incorporate policy and geopolitical considerations into investment theses
- Advise investment committees on regulatory, reputational, and stakeholder risks
- Support portfolio companies on government engagement, market entry, and regulatory positioning
- Lead preparation and coordination for senior executive and C-suite engagements
- Develop high-quality briefing materials and strategic messaging
- Contribute to firmwide thought leadership and, where relevant, fundraising activities
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of experience in public policy, government, consulting, or a related field
- Strong exposure to EMEA markets, ideally across multiple jurisdictions
- Experience operating within a global organization, with familiarity across US and EU policy environments
- Proven ability to engage with senior stakeholders across government, business, and investment contexts
- Strong understanding of the geopolitical and regulatory dimensions of investing
- Ability to navigate complex policy environments and translate insights into actionable recommendations
- Commercial mindset with an appreciation for how policy impacts investment outcomes
- Ability to connect policy developments to investment strategy and business priorities
- Credibility and gravitas to engage effectively with senior internal and external stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize complex information
- Clear, concise, and compelling written and verbal communication
- Highly effective in a matrixed, global organization; strong team orientation
- Proactive in sourcing diverse perspectives and staying ahead of emerging trends
