PSYCHOMETRIST
Description: The Psychometrist administers and scores a broad spectrum of psychometric assessments including highly technical individually administered and computer-based neuropsychological and psychological assessment measures under the general supervision of a neuropsychologist. This position will spend approximately 2-3 hours in direct face to face testing time per patient and then an additional 30-60 minutes scoring and providing comparison norms to support the neuropsychologist in interpreting assessment results. Typical Duties: Administers a broad spectrum of tests and assessment protocols under the general supervision of a psychologist or neuropsychologist. Evaluates and responds to patient needs during evaluation; manages patient behavior during assessment sessions and controls the testing environment to ensure validity of results. Consults with staff or neuropsychologist when necessary regarding unusual patient needs and/or special accommodations during evaluation. Scores psychological and neuropsychological measures according to normative standards and clinical protocols using test manuals and/or computer scoring programs. Records and compiles a summary of patient assessment results. Provides thorough documentation of observations about patient behavior during testing; assists with quality control. Attends to routine administrative details relating to operation of a psychological clinic. Assists in teaching trainees proper methods of test administration and scoring, how to record observations, and how to respond to patient needs or behavior management issues during testing sessions. Assists with research projects. Participates in consultations with other research assessment specialists and in processing and reporting of research data. Participates in constructing or setting up research-related psychological assessment protocols. Performs other duties as assigned.
