Job Summary:
The PMO Team Lead provides day-to-day leadership, coaching, and operational oversight for a team of Program and Project managers delivering on NPD, NTP, Productivity, and other strategic initiatives across the Residential HVAC business. This role ensures consistent execution of Trane Technologies’ project management standards, drives cross-functional alignment, and supports the Director of the PMO in maturing portfolio governance, delivery discipline, and business outcomes.
The Team Lead acts as a force multiplier, removing barriers, elevating risks, enabling decision-making, and developing talent, so that program and project managers can deliver with clarity, confidence, and speed.
What you will do:
Team Leadership & Talent Development
Lead, coach, and develop a team of Program/Project Managers, ensuring clarity of expectations, role alignment, and growth pathways.
Provide regular feedback, performance coaching, and development planning.
Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
Support onboarding, training, and capability building in PMO standards, tools, and methodologies.
Project & Program Delivery Oversight
Lead select high impact projects that require elevated coordination, technical integration, or executive visibility.
Ensure assigned PMs deliver projects on time, within scope, and aligned to business objectives.
Review and challenge project plans, schedules, risks, and financials to ensure quality and rigor.
Facilitate escalation paths and remove roadblocks to maintain delivery momentum.
Support cross-functional alignment with Engineering, Product Management, Operations, Quality, Finance, and Commercial teams.
Portfolio Governance & Reporting
Partner with the Director of PMO to maintain visibility into portfolio health, resource needs, and interdependencies.
Ensure PMs maintain accurate project documentation, status reporting, and risk/issue logs.
Support preparation of portfolio reviews, leadership updates, and decision-ready materials.
Drive consistency in project gating, change control, and governance processes.
Process, Tools & PMO Maturity
Champion adoption of PMO standards, templates, and best practices.
Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve execution discipline.
Contribute to PMO maturity initiatives such as capability frameworks, training, and continuous improvement.
Support integration of new tools into PMO operations.
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Engagement
Build strong relationships with functional leaders to ensure alignment, transparency, and shared ownership of outcomes.
Facilitate effective communication between PMs and business stakeholders.
Represent the PMO in cross-functional forums when needed.
Success Measures

What you will bring:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field.
5–8+ years of project or program management experience, preferably in manufacturing, HVAC, or product development environments.
Demonstrated leadership experience (formal or informal), including coaching or mentoring PMs.
Strong understanding of project management methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, hybrid).
Ability to synthesize complex information and drive clarity in ambiguous environments.
Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
PMP, PgMP, Agile certifications, or equivalent experience.
Experience in portfolio management or PMO operations.
Familiarity with Lean principles and continuous improvement.
Experience with digital tools, analytics, or AI-enabled project management workflows.
Strong financial acumen and understanding of cost, schedule, and resource trade-offs.
