We have an opportunity for a Product Engineer to join our Conroe, TX team. You will be driving Product Development projects, contributing to the design, validation testing, and launch of new products and sustaining engineering activities for existing products. This position also provides technical support and input to Operations and Commercial teams.

You will:

  • Perform investigation and calculations to obtain missing information and to ensure all specifications are correctly documented.
  • Contribute to the development of project budget, resource requirements, schedule, and scope.
  • Lead and/or contribute to projects with little supervisor assistance.
  • Complete all aspects of project assignments accurately and on time including development of designs, performance criteria, quality levels, verification methods, and other aspects as required.
  • Directly lead and support Engineering projects from concept through production and provide occasional work direction to others.
  • Develop design documentation for new products, such as FMEA, Design Input/Design Output, and Product Validation Plans, or other documentation/information for stage gate reviews.
  • Design, build, and implement prototypes, testing equipment, and testing procedures to collect relevant data and validate technology.
  • Accurately and neatly record all test data in electronic data files. Perform data analysis and keep records of calculations and data analysis in permanent record files. Prepare complete and accurate test reports based on data generated by testing and data analysis.
  • Follow all laboratory safety procedures and facility safety policies. Maintain neat and orderly work areas.
  • Create BOMs, part numbers, drawings, sub-assemblies, etc. to be used within ERP System.
  • Assist/participate in specific engineering initiatives such as value engineering, warranty reduction efforts, or other projects assigned.
  • Interface with Product Management, Applications Engineering, Sales, Quality, and Operations to ensure timely production implementation of projects.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to customer inquiries and sales efforts.
  • Read and create Process Flow Diagrams and P&ID’s (Piping and Instrumentation Diagram).
  • Utilize a basic understanding of chemical processes and ability to research and understand chemical processes in Oil and Gas, Chemical Manufacturing, and other industries.
  • Produce design concepts, physical prototypes, and participate in testing both in a laboratory and field setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM), working knowledge of manufacturing and assembly techniques, ability to run simulations to optimize designs (FEA, CFD).

Key Qualifications: 

  • Have earned at least a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (or similar degree).
  • Have 3+ years of experience or 1+ for MS/PhD.
  • Experience with design software Solidworks, or similar (Inventor, AutoCAD, Creo/Pro-E), as well as some experience with simulation software such as ANSYS, OpenFOAM.
  • Project Management, Design for Manufacturability, and ERP systems experience.
  • Experience and knowledge in Oil & Gas or Chemical processes and equipment, fluid systems is preferred.
  • Be capable of leading mechanical designs using standard tools and software, producing and testing prototypes in a laboratory environment, and field trials. Support testing and documentation for stage-gate review process. Work closely with manufacturing/operations team for hand-off.
  • Possess fact-based problem solving and plan development.
  • Possess a strong inclination towards teamwork and collaboration.
  • Ability to travel 10-20%.

Compensation:

For this full-time position working at this location, the anticipated annualized base pay range will be from $71000 - $131800 / year. At Pentair, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the pay range. Pentair considers various factors in determining actual compensation for this position at the expected location. Actual compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, work location, and other relevant business or organizational needs. This position may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as, annual incentive bonus.
