Process Engineering Intern - Summer 2026
Job Summary
To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, this Summer, we’re looking to add a Process Engineering Intern located in our Memphis, TN site.
Reporting to the Process Engineering Manager, the student will assist with daily engineering tasks while learning, collaborating and working alongside Engineers and cross-functional teams.
What a typical day looks like:
- Time studies, work sampling and throughput analysis across warehouse functions.
- Map current-state processes (SIPOC, value stream maps, swim lanes) and identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for labor optimization
- Support takt time calculations, balancing and labor modeling
- Assist in layout redesigning for receiving, picking, packing & shipping and in developing and implementing lean initiatives (5S, standard work, visual
- management)
- Support continuous improvement workshops and Gemba walks
- Create SOPs, on-point lessons, and job aids
- Develop spaghetti diagrams to reduce travel distance
- Evaluate storage configurations, carton flow, and slotting strategies
- Support audits for safety, quality, and compliance
- Analyze mis‑picks, labeling issues, and packing errors
- Recommend corrective and preventive actions
- Support end‑to‑end CI projects including scoping, data collection, pilot, and rollout
- Track project impact and present findings to leadership
- Pull and analyze data from WMS Systems
- Build dashboards in Excel or Power BI for productivity, accuracy, cycle times, and KPIs
- Conduct root-cause analysis using Pareto charts and 5 Whys
Student qualities we’re seeking for this internship assignment:
- Currently enrolled student pursuing a degree in Industrial Engineering or related field (undergrads only)
- Strong skills in Excel and analytics
- Ability to work on the warehouse floor for extended periods
- Highly collaborative, creative and excellent communication skills
- Previous internship experience a plus!
Internship Program Requirements:
- Available to work 40 hours/week (in-person) for 10-12 week Summer assignment
- Currently enrolled in 4-year accredited university
- 3.0 minimum GPA
