At Medtronic, we apply technology with purpose to alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life. The Principal IT Architect – SAP Business Intelligence & Data Platforms is a senior individual contributor within Global IT, responsible for designing and governing SAP‑centric analytics and data platform solutions that enable trusted insights, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance across Medtronic’s global enterprise.

This role serves as a lead solution architect for SAP Business Intelligence, reporting, and data platforms, partnering closely with business, IT, and delivery teams to translate analytics needs into scalable, secure, and sustainable SAP data architectures.

Complexity, Innovation & Problem Solving

  • Address moderately to highly complex challenges spanning analytics requirements, data quality, performance, and integration across enterprise systems.

  • Improve existing BI solutions by identifying opportunities to reduce technical debt, improve data reliability, and enhance user experience.

  • Balance innovation with Medtronic’s regulated‑industry requirements, ensuring solutions are well documented, secure, and audit‑ready.

Leadership Without Authority

  • Provide guidance and mentoring to junior architects, analysts, and technical team members.

  • Contribute to building architectural capability and maturity within Global IT and SAP delivery teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8–10 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 6–8 years, consistent with Principal‑level expectations.

  • Experience with SAP Analytics Cloud and data lakes such as Databricks and Snowflake are an advantage

  • Familiarity with modern analytics and data platforms integrated with SAP ecosystems.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence outcomes and drive alignment across IT teams and delivery partners.
