Key responsibilities: Understands and has knowledge of international freight forwarding including local pick-up or inland transportation, booking, document preparation, port handling, ocean and air transportation, customs clearance and delivery. Calculates rates and price conversions. Converts and verifies shipment weight and volume. Communicates by e-mail, telephone with foreign operations and local customers. Possess excellent time management skills and manage multiple tasks simultaneously under tight timelines Customer service responsibilities include maintaining communication with vendor, shipper, customer, carrier and deugro overseas offices throughout the process and choosing proper routing appropriate to the customer's needs. Preparing quotations to clients, overseas offices and international agents for air, ocean, export, import, and overland transport as best suited for the cargo. Keep all rate and service contracts, port tariffs etc. on file in an organized manner. Keep quote log and follow up with quotes. Responsible for reports as needed and requested by management. Negotiate cost-effective rates with service providers to ensure maximum profitability. Follow and maintain SOP (standard operating procedures) and customer profiles including key contacts, special requirements, contract rates, preferred routings, services, and carriers. Engage deugro support functions for assistance where necessary. Participate in quotes for overseas offices as requested. Immediately report problems, operation disputes or discrepancies to supervisor, manager, divisional manager or branch manager. Employee may also have additional responsibilities in accordance with supporting a specific department(s)/division(s) and/or be tasked with specific, individualized assignments.
