Job Description:

The CERP Group, led by Dr. Zakiya Wilson-Kennedy, seeks a Postdoctoral Researcher to support a collaborative research agenda focused on chemistry and STEM education research, student success, and program evaluation. This position will provide research support for both the SCI 1001 freshman seminar series and the MissDelta Consortium, with responsibilities including mixed-methods study design, data collection, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and dissemination of findings. The ideal candidate will have expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methods, strong communication skills, and the interest to work in interdisciplinary and community-engaged settings.

Job Duties

25% Research Design, Project Coordination, and Evaluation Planning

Research includes mixed-methods study design, data collection, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and dissemination of findings

20% Scholarly Dissemination and Reporting

Writes publications and presents at conferences/workshops

20% Mentoring, Research Training, and Collaborative Scholar Development Supports graduate and undergraduate students with the research process

15% Data Collection and Management

Conducts interviews, observes classrooms, administers surveys, develops datasets

15% Data Analysis and Interpretation

Uses various software for data analysis

5% Other

Other duties as assigned by manager

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Chemical education, science education, educational research, discipline-based education, education, or a closely related field

  • Experience with the duties and responsibilities related to this position

  • Demonstrated expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methods.

    Experience with mixed-methods research design, data collection, and analysis.

  • Evidence of scholarly writing and dissemination, including conference presentations and/or peer-reviewed publications.

  • Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills.

  • Interest to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and external partners across disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience conducting research in undergraduate STEM education, first-year experience, student success, or mentoring.

  • Familiarity with survey design, interview/focus-group protocols and analysis software for quantitative and qualitative data.

  • Experience mentoring undergraduate or graduate students.

  • Record of or strong potential for securing external funding and contributing to collaborative grant activities.

  • Interest in program evaluation and assessment.
