Personal Support Assistant - Dementia Care
Posted on behalf of an individual employer:
We are looking for a small team of kind, patient, and proactive Personal Support Assistants to provide one-to-one care for a lady living with dementia in her own home.
She is a lady with who loves animals, enjoys singing along to her favourite tunes, and finds peace in colouring and crosswords. Whether it’s watching a good show on TV or having a heartfelt chat about "the old days," we want to recruit a team who can truly connect with her and bring a sense of joy to her daily routine.
Legal Note: Due to the nature of the personal care required, this post is restricted to female applicants only. This is a genuine occupational requirement and is exempt under Schedule 9, Paragraph 1 of the Equality Act 2010.
Your Responsibilities
This role focuses on maintaining a high quality of life through companionship and physical support:
- Clear Communication: You must be able to communicate clearly, warmly, and patiently, helping the client feel understood and secure even when she is confused.
- Personal Care: Assisting with washing, dressing, and hygiene with the utmost dignity.
- Shared Hobbies: Spending time together colouring, solving crosswords, or singing.
Companionship: Being a "memory partner"—listening to stories about the past and engaging in meaningful conversation.
- Daily Living: Preparing light meals, medication reminders, and ensuring a safe, comfortable home environment.
About You
- Excellent Communicator: You have a clear speaking voice and the ability to adapt your communication style to the needs of someone with dementia.
- Patient & Calm: You understand that dementia requires a slow, steady pace and a reassuring presence.
- Creative & Fun: You’re happy to burst into song or sit down for a colouring session to keep her mind active and happy.
- Animal Lover: Since she loves animals, a natural affinity for pets is a huge plus!
Why Apply?

- One-on-One Environment: Skip the rush of a care home and focus on providing quality, unhurried care.
- Competitive Pay: Up to £13.85 per hour.
Please note that this role is subject to Right to Work, Enhanced DBS and reference checks.
