Job Title - Performance Engineer/ Operations Excellence Engineer
Job Purpose:
As a Performance Engineer, expectation is to help manufacturing teams perform better—safely, reliably, and efficiently.
Performance Engineer use strong engineering and problem‑solving skills to analyze plant performance, identify gaps, and lead improvement initiatives. Focus would be on reliability, productivity, process safety, and continuous improvement. This role work closely with operations, maintenance, engineering, and safety teams to turn data into action and ideas into results.
Key Accountabilities:
- Monitor and analyze plant technical performance using short‑term and long‑term KPIs
- Improve process reliability and equipment performance
- Increase productivity and team capability while meeting EHS, Process Safety, and Quality standards
- Identify, develop, and implement performance improvement projects
- Promote a culture of proactive problem solving and continuous improvement
Key Responsibilities:
Performance & Reliability
- Analyze daily and weekly plant KPIs and ensure accurate visual performance tracking
- Drive action plans for off‑target performance and follow through to closure
- Monitor equipment reliability and support early identification of potential issues
- Ensure production losses are correctly categorized and true root causes are identified
- Lead or facilitate root cause analysis using structured problem‑solving tools
Improvement & Projects
- Identify and prioritize improvement opportunities across operations
- Facilitate idea generation, screening, and execution of improvement initiatives
- Own and track capital and non‑capital improvement projects from concept to completion
- Support production planning by providing technical input on improvement activities
- Participate in project execution as a project leader or technical contributor
Process Safety & Compliance
- Act as an influential leader in Process Safety within the operating area
- Drive a commitment‑based safety culture, not just compliance
- Ensure improvement activities comply with applicable internal and external engineering standards (RAGAGEP)
- Lead or actively participate in:
- Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA)
- Process Hazard Analysis (PHA)
- Management of Change (MOC)
- Pre‑Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR) and Operational Readiness
- Incident investigations using appropriate methodologies
- Establish and monitor leading and lagging Process Safety indicators and use data to drive improvements
Continuous Improvement Expectations
This role requires a strong foundation in Continuous Improvement (CI), from basic tools to leading complex projects.
Role is expected to:
- Apply CI methods in problem‑solving, project management, and data‑driven decisions
- Lead and coach teams in the use of CI tools
- Promote CI training and recognize effective use of CI methodologies within the team
Preferred training and experience include:
- CI Foundations (problem‑solving tools such as brainstorming, fishbone, 5‑Why, prioritization, project charters)
- CI Plus tools such as Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen facilitation
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification (preferred)
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent)
- Strong technical and analytical capability
- Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and communication skills
- High level of ownership and accountability
- Willingness to work closely with operating teams in a manufacturing environment
Preferred Experience:
- Manufacturing or process industry experience
- Familiarity with process automation and control systems
- Reliability engineering fundamentals
- Continuous Improvement and Six Sigma experience
- Experience working with engineering standards and Process Safety systems
