Our team is dedicated to protecting vulnerable individuals and delivering high‑quality, compassionate legal services. We are now seeking a motivated Court of Protection Paralegal to join our expanding department.
The Role
As a Court of Protection Paralegal, you will support fee earners in managing cases involving deputyships, mental capacity, best‑interest decisions, and property & financial affairs applications. The role offers hands‑on experience, client contact, and excellent opportunities for career progression.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing day‑to‑day conduct of deputyship and Court of Protection files under supervision
- Preparing Court of Protection applications, witness statements, and supporting documents
- Liaising with clients, family members, social workers, medical professionals, and external agencies
- Assisting with financial management tasks such as payments, invoices, and monitoring client accounts
- Maintaining accurate records, file notes, and compliance documentation
- Managing deadlines, diary entries, and key Court of Protection dates
- Conducting legal research and drafting letters, reports, and case summaries
- Providing general administrative and casework support to the wider team
About You
Essential:
- Previous experience in a legal support or paralegal role (Court of Protection, Private Client, or Public Law desirable)
- Strong understanding of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Court of Protection processes
- Excellent organisation, accuracy, and attention to detail
- Confident communication skills and an empathetic, client‑focused approach
- Ability to manage competing deadlines in a busy environment
- Proficient in IT systems and case management software
Desirable:
- Law degree, LPC, or SQE completed/underway
- Experience handling vulnerable clients or working in a care/social‑services‑related setting
