About the job

We’re looking for a strategic and influential International Packaging Manager to lead packaging across our International business — shaping the future of our brands through sustainability, innovation, and regulatory leadership.

This is a high-impact, global role at the forefront of one of the most critical topics in FMCG: packaging transformation. You’ll lead our approach to evolving regulations such as PPWR, drive sustainable packaging solutions at scale, and build the capabilities needed to deliver competitive, compliant, and consumer-centric packaging across markets.

Working across R&D, Sustainability, Supply Chain, Sourcing, and Brand teams — as well as external partners and industry bodies — you’ll play a key role in ensuring our packaging strategy supports both business growth and environmental ambition.

What your role is

  • Lead packaging sustainability and regulatory strategy, acting as the International expert on PPWR and related legislation — translating complex requirements into clear, actionable roadmaps.
  • Shape the future packaging portfolio, defining recyclability, materials strategy, and renovation priorities to ensure compliance while unlocking innovation and value.
  • Represent General Mills externally, engaging with trade associations, industry forums, and regulatory bodies to influence and stay ahead of emerging trends.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment, partnering with Sustainability, Regulatory, Supply Chain, Finance, and Brand teams to inform investment decisions, cost scenarios, and long-term strategy.
  • Scale best-in-class tools and capabilities, embedding frameworks such as HMM, PPA, and Remarkability across International markets to improve performance, efficiency, and brand impact.
  • Champion digital and data-driven approaches, enhancing decision-making and accelerating packaging development through modern tools and systems.
  • Lead strategic supplier and partner relationships, unlocking new technologies, materials, and capabilities to support innovation and sustainability goals.
  • Provide functional leadership to the International packaging community, building capability, developing talent, and fostering collaboration across regions and teams.
  • Embed sustainability into ways of working, ensuring packaging considerations are integrated into innovation, sourcing, and productivity processes.

What you will bring to the team

You’re an experienced packaging leader with 8–10 years of relevant experience and a strong track record of delivering complex, cross-market initiatives in FMCG or a related industry. You bring deep expertise in packaging development, sustainability, and regulatory environments, with the ability to translate evolving requirements into clear strategies and actionable plans.

You combine strong technical knowledge with commercial acumen, confidently navigating cost, risk, and performance trade-offs to support both business and sustainability goals.

You’re highly effective in matrix organisations, able to influence senior stakeholders, align diverse teams, and lead through complexity and change. You’re equally comfortable engaging externally — building partnerships across industry bodies, suppliers, and expert networks.

You bring strong project leadership, analytical thinking, and communication skills, with the ability to simplify complexity and drive clarity. Experience working across European markets and packaging regulations (including PPWR) is highly valuable.
