Why This Role Matters
This is not a typical warehouse role. You will be at the center of how NORY operates, ensuring that every classroom, project, and camp runs seamlessly. From building materials to leading a team, your work directly shapes the experience of thousands of children.
What You’ll Do
Own material operations end-to-end: prepare, organize, and distribute materials for camps and programs
Lead and develop the maker team to improve efficiency, quality, and cost control
Build and create: hands-on fabrication (woodworking, crafting, assembling project materials)
Plan ahead: anticipate needs, manage inventory, and implement systems that scale
Keep HQ running smoothly: maintain a clean, organized, and highly functional workspace
Support logistics: assist with packing, transport, and deliveries across NYC
Who You Are
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and reliable
Naturally proactive - you spot problems before they happen
A strong problem solver who enjoys building systems and improving processes
Comfortable in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
Clear communicator with a strong ownership mindset
Passionate about education, impact, or working behind the scenes to make things run flawlessly
Nice to Have (but not required)
Experience with tools, fabrication, or workshop environments
Background in operations, logistics, or inventory management
Creative or artistic skills
Requirements
Comfortable with physical work (lifting 20+ lbs, moving materials, being on your feet)
Able to navigate NYC for occasional deliveries
Willingness to jump in wherever needed
Schedule
Flexible hours, with a preference for consistent weekly availability (25–40 hours/week)
Higher hours during peak camp seasons
Compensation
$20–$25/hour, based on experience
