About Oliver Wyman

Oliver Wyman, a Marsh (NYSE: MRSH) business, is a management consulting firm driven by deep industry insight, bold innovation, and a collaborative approach that cuts through complexity to help organizations navigate their most defining transformative moments.

Practice overview

Our Banking & Financial Services and Insurance & Asset Management practices partner with banks, insurers, asset managers, payments providers, wealth managers, and adjacent financial services firms to solve their most complex challenges and unlock transformative opportunities. Combining deep sector specialization and rigorous, fact‑based analysis across retail and wholesale banking, payments, wealth and asset management, reinsurance and capital, and insurance operations, we deliver high‑impact work at the intersection of business strategy, technology, regulation, customer experience, and risk — addressing capital and liquidity management, regulatory compliance, digital and AI‑driven transformation, sustainable finance, and performance improvement.

As part of Marsh, we work alongside the world’s leading experts across risk, reinsurance and capital, people and investments, and management consulting — collaborating with Marsh Risk, Guy Carpenter, and Mercer — to help clients build resilience and competitive advantage from every angle.  Marsh’s global scale (over $24 billion in revenue and 90,000+ colleagues across 130 countries) amplifies our reach and impact. In insurance specifically, we partner clients across four transformative moments — customer‑led, performance, deal‑driven, and stakeholder‑led transformation — and, together with our Actuarial team, combine deep industry knowledge and analytical expertise to tackle clients’ toughest problems.

What you will do

Principals

  • Provide end-to-end leadership on complex engagements and serve as a senior advisor to client executives; shape engagement strategy, solution design, and implementation approaches.
  • Own and expand client relationships: identify commercial opportunities, lead pursuit efforts, and play a principal role in contracting and scope definition.
  • Generate thought leadership and intellectual capital to advance the practice and support business development.
  • Lead, develop, and retain talent: build capability across teams, participate in hiring and performance discussions, and foster a high-performing culture.

Engagement Managers

  • Lead day-to-day delivery of workstreams: structure problems, develop hypotheses, design and execute quantitative and qualitative analyses, and synthesize findings into clear, implementable recommendations.
  • Manage and mentor project teams: allocate work, coach junior staff, ensure quality, and drive efficient execution to meet deadlines.
  • Own client interactions: present findings, manage expectations, and maintain trusted working relationships with client stakeholders.
  • Support Principals and Partners in delivery and deal execution, including input to proposals, pitches, and client follow-up.

What you will bring:

  • 6-8 years of professional experience for Engagement Managers and 8-10 years of experience for Principals, preferably in top-tier strategy consulting or project-based, team-oriented environments.
  • Deep subject-matter expertise in financial services - broad exposure or depth in a sub-sector (e.g., retail banking, corporate banking, payments, wealth).
  • Proven track record managing teams or major workstreams and delivering high-quality outputs under tight timelines.
  • Demonstrated success leading large, complex projects and multiple teams; track record of delivering measurable client impact.
  • Exceptional problem-structuring, analytical rigor, and pragmatic judgment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and an inclusive, collaborative leadership style.
