POSITION SUMMARY: The Nutrition Officer will support the implementation and monitoring of nutrition interventions within Project HOPE’s Gaza Response program. In the context of active conflict, displacement, food insecurity, disrupted health systems, and heightened risk of acute malnutrition, the Nutrition Officer plays a critical role in strengthening preventive and curative nutrition services for vulnerable populations. The position will contribute to screening, referral, treatment support, community-based nutrition activities, and integration of nutrition services within primary healthcare programming. The Nutrition Officer ensures alignment with national nutrition protocols, WHO standards, and humanitarian guidelines, while embedding safeguarding, accountability to affected populations, and Do No Harm principles. This position is being advertised contingent upon award; while the recruitment process will proceed as part of organizational preparedness, no formal offer will be extended until funding is confirmed PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: ● Support the implementation of integrated nutrition programs including Community Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM), Blanket Supplementary Feeding Program (BSFP), Targeted Supplementary Feeding Program (TSFP), Growth Monitoring and Promotion (GMP), and Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies (IYCF-E) activities in health facilities and community settings. ● Conduct and supervise nutrition screening for children under five and pregnant and lactating women (PLW) using MUAC, weight, height/length measurements, and edema assessment. ● Support the implementation and monitoring of Outpatient Therapeutic Program (OTP) and Targeted Supplementary Feeding Program (TSFP) activities including patient follow-up, counseling, and monitoring of treatment progress. ● Assist in implementing Blanket Supplementary Feeding Program (BSFP) activities including beneficiary identification, registration, distribution, and monitoring of supplementary nutrition commodities. ● Provide Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) and IYCF in Emergencies (IYCF-E) counseling, promoting exclusive breastfeeding, appropriate complementary feeding practices, and maternal nutrition. ● Conduct Growth Monitoring and Promotion (GMP) sessions and provide counseling to caregivers based on child growth results and nutrition status ● Support community outreach and active case finding activities to identify malnutrition cases and increase community awareness of nutrition and health. ● Maintain accurate documentation of patients records and nutrition program data, ensuring completeness and accuracy of reporting. ● Support timely data collection, reporting, and monitoring of nutrition indicators in line with project and donor requirements. ● Support monitoring of nutrition supplies and coordinating with logistics teams to prevent stock-outs. ● Coordinate with health, protection, WASH, and community teams to ensure integrated service delivery and effective referral pathways. ● Participate in nutrition cluster coordination meetings when required. ● Ensure all nutrition services are delivered in accordance with humanitarian principles, safeguarding policies, protection mainstreaming, gender sensitivity, accountability to affected populations (AAP), and Do No Harm principles. ● Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor to support effective implementation of nutrition program activities. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: ● Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Dietetics, or a related field. ● 3 years of experience in nutrition programming or clinical/community nutrition services. ● Experience working in humanitarian or emergency nutrition settings is strongly preferred. ● Knowledge of CMAM, IYCF, and acute malnutrition treatment protocols. ● Experience in data collection, monitoring, and reporting. ● Ability to work effectively in high-pressure and resource-constrained environments. ● Strong coordination, communication, and community engagement skills. ● Demonstrated commitment to humanitarian principles and safeguarding standards. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: ● Experience working in conflict-affected or hardship contexts such as Gaza. ● Familiarity with WHO nutrition guidelines and Sphere standards. ● Experience collaborating with health and nutrition cluster partners. ● Training in CMAM implementation or emergency nutrition response. Physical demands: ● While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be mobile in an office environment and able to use standard office equipment. ● Must be able to communicate in verbal and written form and must be able to travel internationally. ● Project HOPE employees may be required to travel or work in countries where working conditions are classified as “hardship.” Work environment : ● Typical office environment with exposure to a minimal noise level. ● Emergency deployments may be in resource-deprived environments with austere living conditions. ● Travel for extended periods may be by air and/or other modes of transportation. ● While international travel is not a regular part of every job, programmatic needs may require it intermittently. ● Project HOPE employees may be required to travel or work in countries where working conditions are classified as “hardship.” Due to the substantial number of inquiries, we receive, only candidates who have met the required experience qualifications for this position will be considered.
