Location: The ideal location for this role is East Hanover, New Jersey site but remote work may be possible (there may be some restrictions based on legal entity). Please note that this role would not provide relocation as a result. The expectation of working hours and travel (domestic and/or international) will be defined by the hiring manager.

The Head of Precision Health is responsible for the business ownership of patient finding capabilities in service of the four therapeutic areas in the U.S. from pre-launch through commercialization within the USMA organization. Leadership of the team includes three distinct functions aligned to a therapeutic area strategy team, a platform team inclusive of both technology company partnerships and laboratory/diagnostic company partnerships, and field teams aligned to delivering Precision Health capabilities across the healthcare ecosystem.

As a transformational leader, this leader will collaborate across the US enterprise to bring Precision Health expertise and patient finding to the business. The leader is responsible for building, mobilizing and & leading a team that operates seamlessly across both a complex and matrixed organization & creates end-to-end strategy/execution in support of priorities and capabilities within Precision Health. This leader is charged with building and leading a full spectrum of critical precision health solutions (precision medicine, diagnostics, AI/ML, EHR, digital health, etc.) that are crucial in the short, medium-, & long-term to drive faster adoption of innovation & success for patients.


 

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and drive early-stage strategy to build a foundation of patient finding within Novartis

  • Build and execute a strategy for short term and long-term successes, enabling market leadership in Precision Health, inclusive of technology/diagnostic/platform capabilities to bring innovation to Novartis and the healthcare ecosystem

  • Assess and expand the capabilities of the Precision Health team beyond diagnostic lens to include patient finding via innovation (AI/ML), healthcare EHR/Digital health platforms and workflow solutions.

  • Prospect, build and implement strategic partnerships with third party companies, inclusive of technology (AI/ML, EHR, digital health, med-tech) and diagnostic companies (lab, genomics, biomarkers etc.), to advance the capability of innovation and precision health at the site of care

  • Embed patient finding in the technology and diagnostic workflow to advance patient outcomes in the prelaunch-research and development stages

  • Develop key partnerships and influence at scale within the Novartis ecosystem to bring innovation and precision health to the healthcare ecosystem and broader Novartis US enterprise

  • Lead the team as one inspired and cohesive team with high accountability, clear performance metrics aligned to outcomes in service of patients achieving better outcomes through Precision Health

  • Function as a trusted strategic partner across all functions within the US

  • Ensure high performance via talent management, performance management, and ability to manage contract field teams and Contract Organization

  • Lead a diverse team inclusive of multiple functions to create unity, engagement, and high performance across the Precision Health team, Inclusive of 3rd line leadership and leadership at scale within the team

  • Ensure oversight in creation/maintenance of communication resources, ADHIT/Precision Medicine public websites, and vendors to achieve business objectives.

  • Precise and diligent budget management

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree. Advanced degree preferred.

  • 15+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, diagnostics, healthcare inclusive of at least field & HQ experience inclusive of at 1 least 1 or more priority T.A. (oncology, hematology, neuroscience, cardiology, renal, metabolic, immunology)

  • 10-years+ of people leadership including field leadership in the healthcare space

  • Tech and/or Digital experience

  • Field / customer experience

  • Demonstrated strategic acumen with strong analytical skills and an ability to generate insights and develop relevant action plans  

  • Experience working collaboratively across the matrix 

  • Strong communication & influencing skills, and the ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in stressful situations  

  • Project management expertise & ability to manage multiple priorities and a heavy workload

  • Experience working cross-functionally and an enterprise mindset

  • Strong cross functional leadership.

 

Desirable Requirements

  • Lab and/or Precision Diagnostics experience

  • Brand/Marketing, Precision Medicine/Diagnostics, 3rd line leadership, Customer Experience and/or consulting experience

  • Financial acumen / experience, specially designing & executing business cases

The salary for this position is expected to range between $236,600 and $439,400 per year.

The final salary offered is determined based on factors like, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience, and upon joining Novartis will be reviewed periodically. Novartis may change the published salary range based on company and market factors.

Your compensation will include a performance-based cash incentive and, depending on the level of the role, eligibility to be considered for annual equity awards.
