The Role

The APAC Product Strategy and Development Lead will serve as Neuberger’s lead product officer for the Asia Pacific region, responsible for product strategy, development, and execution across NB’s investment capabilities. This role serves as a key driver of connectivity across NB’s investment, client coverage, and operating platforms, and plays a central role in building and driving consensus for the firm’s overall product positioning. The role serves as a member of the group’s leadership team.

The role will oversee a regionally-aligned Product Strategy & Development team that serves as an objective champion of new product ideas, building market intelligence to facilitate analysis and assessment of product opportunities from concept to implementation, and ensuring alignment with market demand, trends, and strategic business objectives for NB’s institutional, intermediary, and high-net worth distribution channels. Team members are responsible for all functions related to creating and maintaining a healthy product line across our equity, fixed income, and alternative investment businesses (as well as multi-asset class and ESG), with the goal of ensuring that products are successfully researched, designed, priced, positioned, launched, and supported to maximize commercial viability and impact.

The candidate must possess in-depth knowledge of the competitive environment, have an informed view of industry trends, and be capable of originating and analyzing new product ideas and business plans. Specific experience driving strategic product planning is a must, as is familiarity with regulatory frameworks and client preferences in the region. They should also have a track record of driving strategic initiatives in partnership with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitating the development and implementation of new business plans, products and funds from the initial research / business case through to launch
  • Spearheading product development initiatives, creating proposals and presenting findings to senior management
  • Analyzing the market and competitor landscape to identify general investment trends / themes and product flows, including regular periodic analysis and ad-hoc research
  • Monitoring the existing product range to ensure it remains competitive (fund performance, fees, positioning)
  • Staying abreast of regulatory changes as they impact products
  • Integrating and implementing strategic initiatives across the business
  • Supervising pricing / market sizing analysis for specific product launches
  • Conducting specific competitor comparison and analysis
  • Assisting in developing the firm's product strategy and establishing product goals and prioritization
  • Supporting the Firm’s risk management process related to the review of new products
  • Supervising, training and develop other members of the team

Qualifications:

  • University degree is essential, CFA or other professional designations a plus
  • Demonstrable experience of product development, structuring, or other relevant experience in the asset management industry
  • Experience with alternatives strategies and related vehicles is especially important
  • Ideal candidates will have experience with the development of a range of products relevant to Asia-Pacific (including cross-border and local registered funds)
  • Commercial orientation and focus; outstanding strategic ability to visualize, prioritize and deliver a business plan
  • Broad knowledge across asset classes (equities, fixed income & alternatives)
  • Fluency in relevant Asian language(s) (e.g., Cantonese and/or Mandarin) is preferred.
