This apprenticeship offers a unique opportunity to develop foundational skills in licensing compliance, property development, and shop estate optimisation, contributing directly to the success of one of the UK’s most recognisable betting brands.

As National Licensing & Property Development Apprentice you will support Entain’s national licensing operations and the property optimisation team, who are responsible for the development, relocation, and improvement of Ladbrokes and Coral retail shops.

Reporting to our Senior Portfolio Optimisation Manager, you will gain practical experience across compliance, local authority processes, estate planning, and property administration, learning how our shop network stays compliant, commercially effective, and aligned to Entain’s strategy.

Alongside gaining valuable on-the-job experience you'll work towards completing a Level 4 Apprenticeship Regulatory Compliance Officer qualification, lasting 19 months.

Key Responsibilities

Licensing Compliance Support

  • Support the preparation and submission of:
    • Premises licence applications
    • Variations and transfers
    • Gaming machine notifications
    • Temporary event notices
    • Annual renewals and mandatory returns
  • Assist in ensuring all Ladbrokes Coral shops operate in line with:
    • Gambling Act 2005 requirements
    • Gambling Commission Licence Conditions & Codes of Practice (LCCP)
    • Local authority licensing conditions
    • Entain’s safer gambling and compliance framework
  • Maintain accurate digital records and trackers in line with Entain’s governance standards.
  • Liaise with local councils, solicitors, enforcement bodies, and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor key compliance timelines and escalate risks as needed.

Development & Property Optimisation Support

  • Support project planning for the development and optimisation of new or existing Ladbrokes Coral shops, including:
    • Location analysis and demographic checks
    • Planning applications and change‑of‑use submissions
    • Engagement with landlords, agents, surveyors, and solicitors
    • Coordination of fit‑out timelines, building works, and shop handovers
  • Help update estate data and property documentation in Entain’s central systems.
  • Assist with feasibility assessments and market evaluations for potential relocations.
  • Help track project progress, risks, costs, and dependencies.
  • Collaborate with Estates, Facilities, Retail Operations, and Finance teams to support smooth shop transitions.

General & Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain high quality digital filing and compliance records.
  • Prepare reports, meeting notes, presentations, and status updates.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Entain’s sustainability and digitisation strategy.
  • Act as a proactive, positive representative of the Property & Portfolio Optimisation team.
  • Complete all apprenticeship learning modules and development requirements.

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths – required
  • A‑Levels or equivalent – desirable
  • Must meet UK apprenticeship eligibility requirements

  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal)
  • Willingness to learn about licensing, property, and compliance
  • Confident with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Professional approach with strong integrity
  • Interest in regulatory compliance or property-related work

Desirable

  • Understanding of local authority processes
  • Basic analytical skills or experience handling data
  • Some awareness of safer gambling principles
