Multi Disciplinary Analysis and Optimization Engineer for Flight Physics Capabilities

Classe F12 April 22, 2026 Full Time Workday

Job Description:

Imagine the next generation of multi-disciplinary capabilities needed to design the aircraft of tomorrow.

We are a collaborative, international team at Airbus, dedicated to simplifying the complex work of our aeronautical engineers. We create modern applications that are essential to speed-up and improve the design process needed for the aircraft of tomorrow.

As a developer in our Flight Physics team, you won’t just be developing capabilities. You’ll be an integral part of a community that's shaping the future of aviation. You will work alongside senior developers and domain experts, solving real-world challenges for engineers across Europe, India, and Canada.

What You'll Work On

In this role, you will help us build a better, more efficient aircraft design ecosystem. You'll have the opportunity to:

  • Contribute in developing Multidisciplinary Design Optimization (MDAO) capabilities and demonstrate its readiness in solving design problems in the Overall Aircraft Design perimeters, with specific attention on Aerodynamics, loads, mass properties, handling qualities or aircraft performance.

  • Collaborate with end-users, designers, and fellow developers in an agile team to solve complex multi-disciplinary problems and deliver valuable features.

  • Drive a cultural shift toward Design-First engineering, utilizing Systems Thinking to ensure our capabilities are solving the right problems with the right constraints from day one.

  • Learn and grow, supported by our expert community and a team that is invested in your development.

Our Tech Stack Includes:  High-Performance Computing, Large-scale data storage, AWS Cloud | Python | Git |

What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone who is passionate about optimisation techniques for aircraft design and enjoys working in a team. Your background might look something like this:

Core Skills & Experience:

  • Diploma or 3 years of experience in developing capabilities for mono- or multidisciplinary optimisations for Overall Aircraft Design with high-fidelity methods

  • Mastering the end-to-end 3D aerodynamic simulation process from shape parameterization, simulation execution with Reynolds-Averaged Navier-Stokes simulations to post-processing

  • Familiarity with MDAO environments such as GEMSEO, openMDAO or modelCenter

  • Proficiency in Design of Experiment, Gradient-based and Gradient-free optimization techniques to evaluate design trade-offs

  • Advanced surrogate modeling techniques

  • Good knowledge on Overall Aircraft Design with understanding of aircraft sizing, weight estimation, and performance constraints.

  • Proficiency in Python.

We'd love it if you have experience with any of the following:

  • Process automation of complex high-fidelity simulations in aerodynamics,  aero-elasticity or handling-qualities

  • Experience managing large-scale simulations on High-Performance Computers or Clouds, including job scheduling and parallel processing optimization.

  • Artificial Intelligence for solving large scale engineering design problems

  • Adjoint approach for efficient gradient computations

  • Dimension reduction techniques

  • Uncertainty management and robust optimisation

  • System Engineering and Model-Based System Engineering

Who You Are:

  • You are empathetic and enjoy connecting with people to understand their challenges and build solutions they love.

  • You thrive in a team environment, building supportive and positive relationships with your colleagues.

  • You can clearly explain complex ideas to different audiences.

  • You are curious and creative, always looking for better ways to solve problems.

Your Potential Matters More Than Your CV

We know that talent comes from a variety of backgrounds, and we're more interested in your potential than a perfect skills match. We're looking for a motivated and curious individual who is eager to learn. We provide extensive on-the-job training and mentorship to help you develop the skills needed to succeed in this role. If this sounds like you, please apply!
