Director, Royalty Distributions

This is a dual reporting role. Under the direction of the VP, US Retransmission Royalty Program, the Director Royalty Distribution is responsible for assisting in the collection, analysis and distribution of U.S. cable and satellite retransmission royalties under Sections 111 and 119 of the U.S. Copyright Act. Under the overall direction of the SVP Rights Management and supervision of the International team, this position also will manage a database of international copyright royalty distributions made by 3rd parties overseas to MPA Member Companies.

This role requires leadership and teamwork across legal, financial, operational, and data driven processes to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant royalty distributions and accurate, timely updates to the international royalty database.

Starting annual base salary range of $110,000 to $115,000 base. May be eligible to work fully remote based on experience.
  • Execute directives from senior leadership to complete activities associated with distributing multi‑million‑dollar cable and satellite royalty funds.
  • Manage annual filings with claimants and the U.S. Copyright Office, ensuring timely submission, accuracy of all required materials, and effective tracking of filing status. Verify the validity of claims based on U.S. Copyright Office records.
  • Assist in annual processes in preparation for US royalty distributions, including importing large volumes of data files, title linking and matching, and overseeing comprehensive data‑tracking workflows.
  • Assist with data validation in preparation for various processes related to US royalty distributions, ensuring accuracy and consistency across all datasets used in the annual royalty cycle.
  • Maintain daily contact with US royalty claimants, assist with inquiries, explaining processes, and ensuring timely support to facilitate accurate and efficient distribution workflows.
  • Analyze US royalty claimant disputes, notify rights holders of discrepancies, and track resolution progress.
  • Manage the annual external audit process for the US retransmission royalty program. Prepare PBC (Provided‑By‑Client) lists and ensure timely and accurate delivery of required documentation. Collaborate with external auditors and MPA Finance to support audit procedures, respond to inquiries, and ensure transparency and compliance throughout the audit cycle.
  • Manage the International royalty database, including entering payment details and tracking and analyzing distributions to MPA member companies by international collective management organizations.
