Montessori Assistant (Children’s House or Lower Elementary)
Position Summary
The Montessori Assistant works closely with the Guide to support the daily life of the classroom. This role helps maintain an ordered, peaceful, and joyful environment where children can grow in independence, concentration, and virtue. The Assistant supports both the practical needs of the classroom and the development of the children through observation, presence, and service.
Key Responsibilities
● Support the Guide in maintaining a prepared, orderly, and beautiful classroom environment
● Assist with classroom setup, material organization, and daily routines
● Observe students and support their work as directed by the Guide
● Help maintain a peaceful, respectful, and focused classroom atmosphere
● Provide individual or small-group support when appropriate
● Assist with transitions, recess, lunch, and dismissal
● Support classroom management through consistency and attentiveness
● Model respectful behavior, virtue, and a joyful presence
Assessment, Communication & Community Engagement
● Support classroom record-keeping and organization as directed by the Guide
● Participate in school events and community life, including parent events and potlucks
● Attend the Catholic Montessori Conference at the University of Mary (as applicable)
● Support Parent Education & Formation (“PEP”) Nights as needed
Additional Responsibilities
● Participate in daily prayer and model a joyful Catholic life
● Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly environment
● Communicate effectively with the Guide and staff
● Engage in ongoing professional and spiritual development
● Support the broader needs of the school as they arise
