Role Summary: This role is a senior team‑lead position within the Compliance function, responsible for providing hands‑on compliance advisory and oversight support to Manulife Investment Management Japan (MIMJ) in relation to statutory and regulatory requirements applicable to the asset management business. The incumbent will lead and supervise junior team members, ensuring the delivery of high‑quality, timely, and practical compliance support, while fostering a collaborative and professional team environment. The role requires close engagement with business and functional stakeholders, including participation in complex or sensitive discussions, to facilitate sound regulatory outcomes and effective risk management. Job Description: Supervise compliance of other departments with regulations as well as internal rules and provide compliance advice in pragmatic manner. Investment compliance oversight to the front office investment activities, including the interpretation of Japan regulatory requirements as well as client/ fund offering documents requirements for monitoring purpose. Group compliance policies implementation including advising impacted departments and resolving implementation challenges. Review variety of internal / external compliance reports, e.g. reporting to the Group Compliance, filing to the FSA and industry associations. Supports JP FSA matters, including handling of onsite inspections, licensing issues and responding to regulator’s enquiry. Facilitating the escalation of compliance issues, providing support for internal reviews, and delivering resolutions for identified control gaps. Overseeing sales and marketing activities and Know-Your-Clients and anti-money laundering issues. Required Skills & Experience (must have): Work experience as a compliance officer in asset management company (more than 8 years) Knowledge of local laws and regulations related to asset management business, i.e. Financial Instruments and Exchange Act and Investment Management Association of Japan Rules Audit/Law/Compliance background; preferably with accounting/ finance/ legal designation. Strong interpersonal abilities coupled with proven leadership skills. Demonstrated strong personal judgement and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder dynamics. Ability to demonstrate a high degree of initiative and a strong commitment to meeting deadlines. Japanese (fluent, especially in reading / writing) English (business conversational, intermediary in reading / writing ) Internal Guidelines about Work From Home: Follow Manulife Guidelines on remote work Over time: Overtime is required on occasional basis Salary: Based on our Work Rules, we will consider your experience, skills and knowledge when we decide the salary. Commutation allowance and Variable Incentive Bonus are paid based on our Work Rules. Working Hours: Standard Working Hours: 9:00am - 5:00pm (Include 1 hour break.
