Our Camera & Depth Space organization plays a pivotal role in maintaining product standards, ensuring our customers are consistently impressed and delighted by the quality of our products. We are seeking a Metrology System Design Lead to drive the architecture, system engineering requirements specification, design, and development of our instrumentation in parallel with the core technology. In this role, you will lead the design of comprehensive and customized metrology systems that are instrumental in the development of cutting-edge technologies for our products, while leading cross-functional teams across Apple and key business partners.
Description
As a Metrology System Design Lead, you will own and lead the end-to-end architecture, design, and implementation of calibration and test systems for one or more technologies, from early prototypes through mass production. This role requires a natural leader with a profound understanding of firmware and hardware fundamentals and a background in designing complex systems, who thrives in dynamic and fast-paced environments. You will serve as the primary contact for metrology system engineering requirements, scalable validation, and processes for core technologies, acting as the key liaison between our organization and internal and external cross-functional engineering teams to ensure the timely and accurate implementation of metrology solutions that meet engineering specifications.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, or related technical discipline 10+ years of work experience in metrology, instrumentation, or a related field Excellent understanding of hardware/firmware architecture and the interoperability of complex systems Prior experience with one or more of the following technologies: camera, depth sensing, and EE (e.g., SoC, image sensor, power, signal integrity, battery)
Experience with technologies involved in mobile devices Ability to collect, analyze, and present data to senior management
Preferred Qualifications
Prior technical leadership and/or project management experience Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver executive-level presentations Dynamic, collaborative, and "can-do" attitude with a passion for working with talented cross-functional teams Willingness and ability to travel approximately 20%, typically in 7-10 day trips
