Metal Shop Lead

This is a dual-impact role—you’ll lead by example while staying hands-on with fabrication. You’ll partner closely with the Metal Shop Supervisor to keep operations running smoothly, safely, and on schedule, while mentoring technicians and ensuring every product meets exact customer specifications.

What You’ll Do

  • Coordinate daily metal shop operations to meet productivity, quality, and delivery goals
  • Serve as a trusted leader and point of contact when the Supervisor is unavailable
  • Operate and oversee CNC punches, press brakes, shears, saws, and welding processes
  • Read and interpret complex blueprints and schematics with precision
  • Train, coach, and support metal shop technicians
  • Champion safety, OSHA compliance, and equipment maintenance
  • Drive process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste
  • Support shipment preparation and occasional on-site installation or service work

The role is non-exempt and typically works a 40-hour work week, with flexibility required for overtime, evenings, or weekends to meet critical production deadlines. 

  • 4–5+ years of experience in metal fabrication or a related field
  • Strong leadership mindset with hands-on technical expertise
  • Strong experience with AutoCAD preferred.
  • Proven ability to work independently and solve problems on the fly
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with flexible hours
  • Technical or college degree a plus (not required)
  • Overtime flexibility is required to meet critical deadlines
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as needed

Work Environment

  • Production floor setting
  • Standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs.), and use of hand and power tools
  • Occasional travel between facilities or to client sites may be required
