Medication Monitor, Community Corrections

The Medication Monitor, Community Corrections is responsible for the supervision of the facility population including but not limited to safety, security and facility sanitation.  This role provides for the care, custody and control of residents and establishes a safe environment for the facility, staff, visitors and residents. 

  • Conducts daily Pill Call and Pill Pass; observes and documents resident self-administration of medication(s) as required by applicable policies and/or procedures.
  • Secures and maintains control of resident' medications, syringes and inventory as required by established procedures. 
  • Follows applicable policies and procedures in the discontinuation and disposal of resident medications.
  • Keeps equipment and work area clean; utilizes appropriate sanitation methods.
  • Documents and reports activities in accordance with established policies and/or procedures including medication record documentation.  Maintains security and confidentiality of all medication records.
  • Closely observes and reports resident complaints of illness for immediate intervention as per applicable policies and procedures. Notifies supervisor of residents' request for health counseling and health education.
  • Recommends methods of improving operational efficiency and cost effectiveness of health-related services.
  • Maintains audits of residents' medication inventory as per applicable facility policies and procedures.
  • Inspects the medical unit for items that could be used as contraband by residents; securely stores or safely disposes of supplies and equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma, GED certification or equivalent is required.
  • Two years of experience in a security or corrections field is required.
  • Six months supervisory experience in a correctional setting is preferred.
  • Must have First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing and apply problem solving techniques to complex issues.
  • Must be available to work any hours, any shift.
  • Must complete pre-service and other training programs as required.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office or other similar software applications is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Minimum Age Requirement:  Must be at least 18 years of age.
