What will you be doing?
Role: Medical UnderwriterLocation: Dorking (Hybrid)
Unum UK is seeking a Medical Underwriter to join our team. In this position, you’ll be responsible for delivering high quality underwriting decisions for Income Protection and Life Assurance customers. Whether you're an established Senior Medical Underwriter or Junior Medical Underwriter looking to grow your career, we’ll support your development every step of the way.
What will you bring?
Key Accountabilities:
- Manage your own workload to maintain productivity, accuracy, and quality.
- Make clear, well‑documented decisions within authority levels using guidelines, manuals, and medical expertise.
- Check referred cases and support continuous development across the team.
- Handle customer enquiries promptly and professionally.
- Refer cases to reinsurers in line with Unum’s reinsurance agreements.
- Contribute to underwriting project work and process improvements.
About you:
- Experience within medical underwriting or similar fields.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated and collaborative team player who can effectively work with teams across the organisation.
- Confident decision-making abilities.
- Adept with systems and curious about emerging technology.
