Position Summary
The Material Handler is responsible for ensuring products are stored, loaded, and shipped for delivery within established costs, quality, and safety standards.
The Role
Proactively manage warehousing activities;
- Physically load trucks with product to include blocking and bracing
- Physically unload deliveries
- Works with Production Services Manager to maintain inventory accuracy
- Ensure that appropriate hazard and export labels are used
- Assist Annual Physical Inventory
- Participate in Inventory Cycle Counts when needed
- Assist operations with material questions.
- Stage materials for operations.
Process Monitoring and Personnel Guidance – ensure the safe operation of equipment through process application and safe behavior work actions
- Ensure that self and peers follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for appropriate plant processes (Formulation production, packaging, warehousing, maintenance, etc.) through observation and feedback
- Ensure that self and peers follow the appropriate safety procedures at the plant through observation and feedback and safe work permit and hot permit use.
- Communicate with Management about process problems, personnel issues, process improvement ideas and safety issues to ensure proper problem resolution
- Keep areas clear of clutter, trash and environmental hazards
The Candidate
- High School Diploma or GED
- Strong verbal communication skills to provide information to peers and supervision
- Written communication skills with the ability to express data and information with the appropriate spelling and legible writing
- Knowledge of DOT regulations
- Knowledge of HAZMAT procedures and documentation
- Ability to use sound problem-solving skills to troubleshoot equipment and be creative with design
- Ability to analyze situations and utilize sound reasoning and judgement in making decisions
- Comfortable with using computer interfaces to monitor processes and enter data
- Knowledge of safety, environmental and quality systems at the site
- Able to lift up to 50lbs regularly
- Able to safely operate fork truck
Compensation
Pay range is $22-$24. Monday through Friday 7 am to 3 ppm and occasional overtime.
