Regional Actuarial Financial Planning & Analysis Transformation Lead
We are seeking a visionary and execution-oriented Regional Actuarial Financial Planning & Analysis Transformation Lead to drive a multi-year FP&A and actuarial modernization agenda across the businesses in Asia segment of Manulife. This is a pivotal regional role responsible for reimagining how actuarial insights, financial planning, forecasting, and analytics come together to support strategic decision-making in a complex multi-market life insurance business.
You will lead the end-to-end transformation of actuarial modelling, planning, projection and forecasting processes, technology platforms, and reporting capabilities, building a future-ready actuarial FP&A ecosystem that is digitally enabled, efficient, and insight-led.
This role is ideal for a senior actuarial professional who brings deep insurance actuarial expertise, and a passion for transforming operations at scale.
Position Responsibilities
Actuarial & FP&A Transformation Leadership
Lead the strategic roadmap and execution of actuarial and FP&A transformation across Asia markets—covering actuarial modelling, core earnings, new business value metrics, forecasting, strategic and business planning.
Ensure strong alignment with Group Finance Transformation, Global FP&A roadmap, and regional business priorities.
Oversee integrated workstreams including Earnings/ Revenue, New business metrics, Operating Model Design and Modernization
Identify and manage dependencies, transformation risks, and change impacts, ensuring seamless execution across markets.
Analytics, Modelling & Insight Generation
Drive development of analytical frameworks and financial/actuarial models that enhance performance insights, strategic planning, and forward-looking projections.
Translate complex actuarial drivers into clear, actionable business insights for senior executives.
Leverage scenario modelling to support strategic decisions, including product economics, market dynamics, and portfolio optimization.
Future-State Operating Model & Process Excellence
Redesign planning, forecasting, and actuarial reporting processes to maximize value creation, efficiency, control, and insight generation.
Build repeatable, scalable processes that enhance transparency, timeliness, and accuracy of actuarial and financial outputs.
Define and embed new operating models for collaboration between Finance, Actuarial, business and transformation teams.
Digital Enablement & Technology Integration
Champion the deployment and optimization of FP&A tools and platforms as the enterprise-wide planning and actuarial projection platform.
Partner closely with the regional/local actuarial teams to enhance model design, calculations, scenario analysis, and workflow automation.
Drive integration with Power BI, advanced analytics tools, and data pipelines to enable real-time insights and automated reporting.
Promote and support automation using technologies to streamline actuarial–financial processes.
Capability Building & Change Management
Lead upskilling and adoption programs for actuarial and FP&A teams in new tools, technologies, and ways of working.
Partner across Asia markets to embed sustainable actuarial processes post-implementation.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement, data-driven decision-making, and digital-first mindset.
Stakeholder Engagement & Governance
Build strong relationships across Group, Asia, and BU leadership teams across actuarial, finance, Chang and transformation, and distribution.
Prepare and present governance materials for SteerCos and regional leadership forums.
Serve as the key regional transformation spokesperson for actuarial–FP&A integration and modernization.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science or related field; Fellowship / Actuarial qualification strongly preferred.
10+ years of actuarial experience within the life insurance industry, with clear exposure to valuation, projection modelling, business planning, or financial reporting.
Proven success driving actuarial or finance transformation programs, including operating model redesign, model development/enhancement, and system implementation.
Strong knowledge of life insurance metrics including IFRS 17 earnings/ revenue, reserves, NBV, capital metrics, and actuarial cashflow dynamics.
Experience working with multi-market stakeholders, external consultants, and transformation teams.
Minimum 5+ years collaborating with FP&A teams on planning, forecasting, and analysis.
Technical Skills
Skilled in business requirements gathering, target operating model design, and testing/validation of actuarial-financial systems.
Hands-on experience with Anaplan model building or actuarial planning use cases (Preferred)
